Question about motor mounts (340 to 318)
« on: August 15, 2010 - 10:54:46 PM »
I am about to buy a 318 out of a van. It's real cheap and I just want a motor to put in until I can build a better one. I remember seeing something about the mounts being different for a 318 to a 340, is this right? Also, is there any difference between the ones from a van versus a car? What else do I need to think about if I buy this motor? And is there a "swap" mount I can use or do I need to weld new mounts on the challenger? Thanks for the help yall. This is my first project car so I am learning as I go!

Van mounts will be different than your e body mounts. Then, only 1 mount is different between the 318/340. Either way, it isn't real difficult to get you going. Mounts are easy enough to find

So should I be able to go to a junkyard and just pull a mount from some car that would have a 318? If so, what cars should I look for? Thanks for the help!

I think a 71-72 c body
68-72 b body
and 70-74 e body   thats 340/360
