When I got my car it had an Edelbrock 1407 on it......through the process of getting it running, etc, I ended up putting a 1406 on it after several folks here suggested it wass just too much carb (318, J heads, purple cam, headers. edelbrock intake)and it runs pretty well...finally got it to idle low enough to not chug-chug-chug after shutting it off, but not so low as to stall. One thing I aint quite got licked yet is that I get a stumble/bog when I hit the gas hard from idle. I have stepped the accel. pump linkage to the longest stroke....to no avail.
I have a jet/rod/spring kit from the 1407......does anyone know if I can use those in the 1406 or is the kit calibrated specifically for the 1407?
I also thought maybe the accel pump in the 1406 is going bad?
If I ease a bit into the gas it takes off well, even with my 2.76 gears. Its just that bog when I nail it that sucks eggs. LOL
