72 to 71 front end
« on: August 18, 2010 - 11:41:03 PM »
I have always loved the Cuda body style.  I am new to the mopar world and I purchased a 72 Barracuda Grand Coupe.  The car as a hole is in great shape very minimal rust and I have ALMOST all the pieces to get it restored and put back together, HOWEVER the grille I have is pretty busted up and not in very good shape. I have been looking through old post about 72-74 replacement grilles and the "cudagrille.com" webiste is no more so I have nothing to work from.

So my question is how much work would it take to convert my 72 front end to a 71.  I love the gilled fenders and I honestly like the grille better.  The majority of the rust I will be dealing with will be on the front fenders.  Could I replace the fenders with 71 gilled fenders and us the 71 grille assy?  Or is it just not that easy?

Welcome :2thumbs:
It all depends on how much you want to spend, 71 grilles are like gold. 72 will be a little easier on the wallet

Well damn the luck.  From experience, do yall have any suggestions on going about getting the grille either fixed or replaced?  Im not trying to build a show car by no means.  I want to build something I wont be afraid to drive and enjoy.

Welcome, DaPrato. You'd probably get better info if you post a good description of the problems with your grille, or better yet, some pics.

I heard the re-pro 72-74 cuda grilles were a tad short.(too narrow at the lights) Best bet would be find a decent used one.Or fix what you got. 71's have two headlights. Easiest to swap fenders and grille. :money:   Big bucks!   Welcome to the site! R/T
