gotta get that motor out before winter. Nice rebuild and engine bay refresh. Inner fenders are good but need to fix a rotted section in the cowl.

Removed the old woodgrain on the console of the charger and installed the new wood grain.
Found an ash tray face plate, cleaned the inside and sand blasted the rest. Its now painted and on the dash. Just waiting for the dash pad to come in from just dashes.
Took the windshield wiper motor and gears apart and cleaned everything. Rewired and covered the coil leads and painted the canister for the coils with the paint that looks like cadmium.

Hey Camjam...how did you get the woodgrain off the dash?  We removed the woodgrain off our console piece and it took forever.

Rev: I took it off the console. I found that there is a layer of shellac or something similar covering the wood grain. Mine had baked in the sun for so long that I was able to slip a knife under it and lift it off, some small pieces but mostly large. There was an area where the material still adhered quite well. I used a furniture stripper to get it to let go and then peeled it off. I also used the stripper to clean off the woodgrain that was painted on. It probably took me a couple of hours.

Here is a pic

Thanks! It is the first time I have painted a car. :-[ I thought the engine bay would be the best place to practice. ;) I have to say I was happy with my results and it wasn't as hard as I thought it might be. I did have a few runs, but they will get covered by the fenders. Another thing I keep telling myself is that it is just paint! If I mess up, I can always try again. :D
Was that a single stage or a two stage paint?

That's nice camjam. Is that a cruise control/turn signal wand sticking out the left side of the column in the before pic?

 :D Sweeeet :D

Just me, but i just have a thing for the 70 Charger RT. I've always thought that a 70 Charger RT/SE similarly optioned to my Challenger RT/SE would make for a nice pair  ::) ::) 8) :D

Thanks 74. I am pretty pleased with it.
I did all the work except for the instrumentation. That was done by Redline.

Camjam, that turned out great!  My console piece came off in tiny pieces no larger than 1"X1".  Pain in the butt!

4C....I've forwarded your sentiment to the intended target....
