Looks very nice 71cudajoe.  :ylsuper:

Thanks so much. I'll be sure to post pics when it's all done. I can't wait!

By the way, if anyone is interested, I took a short walk-around video of the car in its current state -- not a great video, but gives an idea where it is and where it's headed.

Here are a few more pics of how it is mounted on a 340 if this helps?

Yeah, that one is very cool, only problem is you will need to run an electric fuel pump.

What is wrong with an electric fuel pump?  If you set up a switch in the car to turn in on or off you have a built in theft deterrent.  I have something similar going on my car in the future.  Seems to me it is easier to change out an electric pump than a mechanical on the side of the road.  Plus it frees up more horse power.

Hey Guys .... just reading through your thread.    I had already rebuilt my factory AC heater box when I found out about the Classic Air system.

1)   Did either of you use the original stock heater box with a new evaporator???

2)   Where do you mount the "Fresh Air" cable under the dash with the factory trim piece under the dash mounted???

Thanks .... CHAPS

I'm going to be using my oridinal box.  Even though Vintage says direct fit you still need to cut holes.  Not so direct fit.  beside they say the old boxes are still better than the newer ones.

prior owner did a lot of work to it with a 2.5 year build of a non-a/c 318 barracuda. Its the vintage air sanden unit, and I think the firewall was also swapped with an a/c firewall, iirc.
Here in s. florida the car would be undriveable for 6 months out of the year without a/c, and it cools real well.

In the early 90's the previous owner swapped the non a/c firewall section in my 6 pack Cuda for an a/c firewall section.  They used a combination of Ebody parts and an early 90's truck a/c compressor.  They had to use the small compressor to clear the 6 pack. I had planned to put it back to stock.  After seeing your setup Tommy, I think I'll just change it to the vintage air and leave it.  It is a black car and you are correct, without a/c in south Florida it is not usable for half of the year. One nice thing about the set up is that I have a/c and a drivers side fresh air vent.  Chrysler should have built all the a/c cars that way.

I really like that "under" setup for a big block, and I run an electric fuel pump, so I will check that out, if only to make the upper side look a lot cleaner.
I just replaced all 3 of my belts because my inner belt jumped on me and I overheated. I replaced the alternator a few months back and I must not have tightened it enough. After spending the time in there, and cleaning everything up (it was a mess) I realized it would look cleaner and be easier to maintain everything with the a/c down under. It just looks ugly and out of place in a classic engine bay.
Only problem is, I will probably have to install some shorter hi/lo pressure hoses/lines, which means recharging etc.

Thanks Ragtop. We may not agree on politics, but I think we see eye to eye when it comes to our cars.
