that looks awefull.   glad both drivers seem ok.
one of my bmw was hit like that in a crash a couple years ago.  There wasn`t one part on the car that was in the same location.... I sure hope the cuda can be saved.

understood, but no one was hurt, and the car will be repaired.
Lots of work and $$, but it will be running again.
Not that anyone wants to hear this, but it probably bears little resemblance to the chassis/frames of our cars, and is probably more easily repaired in some ways.
Just trying to look at the bright side.

Agreed. the guys running these things aren't exactly on shoe string budgets, so  I don't doubt it will be fixed and returned to competition.

In all the years I've been competition driving, it never ceases to suprise me how many drivers are "bumper drivers" or they don't look more than a car length or two ahead of them. I suspect that, despite the money and value of these cars, some of the drivers in these vinatage series are the same way. Heck, maybe even more so here since the price of admission is more finacially relevent than expereince based.

Was nice to see the Dodge up front though. Despite how the 1970 season ended, the mopars regularly qualified up front. They just lacked the endurance on the parts to finish there consistently.

I used to road race & that was a CLEAR case of a driver that does NOT have enough experience to be on the track with that caliber & history of cars! The clown was NOT looking through the corner as he should have been! He was staring at the bumper of the car in front of him! The problem with Historic racing is that just about anyone with money can go do it & not need the required experience in other forms of racing! Saddens me to see idiots like that allowed in a historic race car. That Camaro was no special famous car either like the 42 car! All a car needs to be able to qualify for historic racing status is to have been a race car back in the day. It could've been Joe Schmuckatelli's car that never even qualified back in the day but if it can be verified that it's from the time period, it can be restored & raced. I am saddened! Ray.

Unlike todays "stock" cars back then they actually used a production body shell.Obviuosly a lot of reinforcements/modifications have been done but it relly isn`t that far from stock.

It was definitly the Camaro drivers fault as he was looking to make the pass on the other Camaro but not watching the road ahead!

Sucks to see the #42 wrecked but it can be fixed and I`d rather see them racing than just sitting on the show field.

Remember, it's original only once.  Being restored, the bolt-on items may have been replacements (or not), but the acid dipped body was most likely original.  replacement frame pieces, inner fenders & such will probably alter the historic handling characteristics.  not to mention that all the cost will be out of pocket.  I don't think "The good hands people" would have been insuring any of those cars.  It hurts all around.

I think I remember Joe Schmuckatelli qualifying at an 1/8 mile dirt track in Zebulon, GA back in the day, but  you're right I don't think its the same car!

This stinks I liked that cuda but falt 1 was the cuda that messed up the surface .
Falt 2 was the  car to spin in the 1st cars oil  then 3rd was the camaro . just saying.
