    Does this look right. Are some numbers larger than others on the engine block serial number.

    clean off the painted area if those machine/grinding marks are all the way there and the numbers apear to not be overlapping then some smart ass probably was having fun at the plant

    or could it be a warranty block, who does one know ?       good luck

    I would be a little suspect, does the trans stamping match this engine ID in the same respect as to some numbers being struck heavier than others.

    I thought they were placed in something and struck at the same time?? I have seen them go from heavy on one end to light at the other.

      Looks like the vin from a 71 Hamtramck car. I've read that the factory reversed them on the block from how they appear on the dash or fender tag.

    it doesnt look to over lap other numbers nor does it look to be grinded on and then restamped. It just looked odd to me. I would have thought a machine would have stamped those numbers in but I take it now that it was a person. But since there isnt any consistant number stamping technique I will say it is right. by the way the cuda sold and check in the mail. I got the 12k for it. A good fair price.

    Glad you sold the car and are happy with it Burpin, party time!! As far as the numbers go, I haven't seen that myself and think it looks odd. Why if the same person stamped this does he use the larger stamp when there are smaller ones with the same number in the series? Just seems odd that someone would get a larger # 7 when he has the small one already hmmm. My conclusion? Dunno!!  ;D

    Glad to hear you got fair numbers for the 'cuda, Burpin'.  Now you can relax with a cold one and firm up the plans on the next move, only this time with actual cash in pocket  8)
