First casuality of having kids!!!
« on: August 28, 2010 - 02:51:12 PM »
Charlotte Auto Fair is this weekend and eventhough I was not going to show my car I thought I would cruise out there and have a couple hours to myself. Well I throw back the cover on my car to dust it off and there it was. Three chunks of the Hockey stick stripe missing from where my wife had banged the door of our Tahoe into it while putting the kids in it. What makes things worse it that I just had the car out a week and a half ago to wax it and nothing was wrong with it. Keep in mind we have had kids (twins) for close to 5 months now without incident.  So in a matter of a week my wife manages to bang into my car 3 times!!! Sorry I just had to vent!!! :swear:

I figure that I have annoyed my wife enough over the years that she deserves to annoy me as well  :smilielol:. If your wife knows about it, I am sure she feels terrible, if not, my advice to you (being married for 20 yrs with kids) just let it go.......probably not worth the argument

My youngest came in the house one day and wanted to show me what she had been writing while outside.  She was very proud of her work (she was 4 at the time).  I went and looked around but didn't see anything.  Then she pointed to the front fender of my truck.  She used a rock....  The truck wasn't even a week old...

Two weeks later, my wife went to the coffee shop and hit a pole in the drive through...

my son`s friend (9) dropped his bike against the cuda after it had been painted one week earlier... first dent  :pullinghair:  killed the kid and felt a lot better...    If I were you I`d lock the kids in the basement and tell your wife to find another home...  :aarg:

or get some new stripes...

Sorry to hear it, I had a couple 6' long scratches on the side of my car a week or so ago show up.  Not the best feeling for sure.

If it's just in the Hockey stick only I'd be inclined to use Black Sharpie to touch it up and drive!

Sounds like a good arguement for me to never paint the car and just leave it in primer. So a rat rod is a pre-war car that never gets finished. What do you call a muscle car that never gets finished?

The first rule of having kids is take extra precautions with your toys! Having raised 4, I know  :grinyes: .
I remember as a youngster, running my mini bike into the driver's door of my dad's new '69 Ranchero GT.  :scared:
Won't do that again!  :roflsmiley:

It doesn't sound like your kids are at fault here. I think it is pretty safe to say it is your wife's screw up. Don't take it out on your kids, there will be many opportunities to do that later in their careers as rascals, vandals, and miscreants.

I find it pretty easy to forgive my daughter for just about anything she can do. If you were in my shoes you would understand.

Well Cudadave think of it this way, they could have been out joyriding in your Cuda and crashed it into a guardrail  :stirpot: Things happen man and i'm sure the wife feels bad enough as it is.

Like I said I just needed to vent. Its not the kiddies fault and no way am I mad at them!!! The good news is that it was localized to the stripe itself. Bad news is that the person who owned the car before me had to reclear the top half of that panel and used the stripe as a break line and butted paint up next to it. That means I cant remove the stripe without damaging the paint. I'm going to get another stripe kit and see if I can overlay the old one. I've done that before with pinstripes and you can hardly tell that there are two layers. Hopefully the new stripe will be exactly the same size as the one that is on the car. If not, oh well, the car is a driver and like I've said before my car is a 10 footer. I guess now its a 10 1/2 footer. :bricks1:
