First casuality of having kids!!!

When I got my brand new T/A hood painted and on the car for like 1 week, my son noticed the dirt ( from working on the car) and wiped it off to my horror! Yep a huge scratch! Still there too. I was so upset but I couldn't show it to his as he was almost in tears! I told him I knew it wasn't done on purpose and he was worth more than ANY car! Lesson learned now he knows never to do that again!

Wait a minute, isn't there child locks on the Tahoe, well then make sure that they're being used and have the kids get out the side that the car isn't on.

Dave I hope the overlay solution works for ya, that would be a "painless" cure to the situation. Things like this will eventually happen no matter how close we watch and take care. No blame or tryng to make excuses, but honestly when our cars are parked that close sooner or later it happens, and a mom caring for two and loading and unloading, well................it's understandable although unfortunate.

How bout this : My 71 Sport Fury was all the way to about 6 months old, we had to attend a funeral that required gravel/dirt road travel to the cementary and although the ride was slow by the time we got back home the whole sides of the car from the belt line down was brown with drying mud. I was verbally upset of course and I guess my middle son who was 3 or 4 at the time washed it for me while I was at work. No water, no soap, no sponge.....................just a putty knife he found lying around.  That is funny as hell now, but back then             The kid just wanted to help his dad clean the mud off the car.

Sounds like a good arguement for me to never paint the car and just leave it in primer. So a rat rod is a pre-war car that never gets finished. What do you call a muscle car that never gets finished?

Well my whops moment is not kids but my 56 year old dad. The day we went to get my new 73 out of the storage locker for the first time since buying it from a friend. Me being a good son and not wanting him to hurt himself I let him behind the wheel as I pushed it out with a friend of mine behind the car to stop it if needed. I started to push and had the car almost out and he cut the wheel driving the nose into the side of the storage locker taking off a good sized chunk out of the fiberglass grille  and scratching the front real good. Lucky for me hes a Ex Usaf sheet metal man who has lots of fiberglass work exp!

I feel your pain.  When I was a kid I tried to help my grandfather by filling up his gas tank, with water!!  Yeah, there was hell to pay!!

when i was about 13 i was showing off to my friend in the garrage by playing around with dads motorcycle, well, i turned the key, the bike jumped and i dropped it on the rear 1/4 of the chally....thankfully we had to fix a dent in that 1/4 any way but i had to work like he!! to pay for the damage to the bike and the extra for the huge dent in the chally... 

my son now gets to help me on the same car...not to long before i came out here he found a golf ball and tryed helping...by smaking it into the tail light over and over again  kids will be kids...and my wife whacks the door all the time..

about 3 days after my hood was painted (before it was even on the car) a "friend" of mine thought he would put his initials in the dust on the hood of my car. I still have a huge "RJ" in my hood if its in the right lighting. He said "whoops" and left, its been over a year now and i have still never seen him since

I would have made him into a farmer....by giving him a couple of achers!
A adult should know better! A kid that's a different story!

I almost forgot this one,
My baby brother was about 2 or 3 and with my first Challenger ( in the 80's) it needed a front fender repair ( hole in the bottom) so we were hammering and cutting etc...
My little brother decided he could help too. When we were not looking he went all down the other side with a pick hammer. Funny now....but not then!
