« on: August 28, 2010 - 03:43:42 PM »
I need to replace the radiator in my Cuda and was checking out what's available on Ebay I came across these two and wondered if anyone here has any experience with either one?

I have a champion 26".I thermo gun checked it after I installed it and there is 40 degrees difference between top and bottom. It looks good but some of the welds are'nt that good looking cosmetically.

Thanks for the info. I'm not too worried about the cosmetic aspect of the welds as long as they are good. Sounds like they are a good radiator for the price.

I was going to say... the image for the Champion looks to have much nicer welds than the other.  I guess it's really no guarantee as to what you'll get.

Am seriously considering the chromed universal fit shroud.  Since the rad is all nice and shiney I think a nice bright shroud would go well.  I'm going to check out the one advertized at NAPA.

Am I crazy?  Are they complete junk?  I just want something that works.

You can always paint it black so it looks close to original.   I'm doing that with my car.

the stock shroud would work better . the aftermarket one is hit and miss, heard good and bad about the chrome or aluminum half shrouds . the fan has to be set a certain distance in the shroud to work correctly.

Heminut... what kind of shroud are you showing in your signature picture?  Looks like the chrome one I'm spying...

Well, I need to get the fan on first...  the dang bolts won't go back on with the clutch & lock washers in place (their too short).  Another trip to the hardware store... hahahahaha...

Thanks all for the ideas & thoughts...

Alan, that is one of those chrome jobs from Ebay. It's probably more of a fan blade guard than a shroud, as it doesn't go all the way around the fan. It seems to work pretty good though as I've never had an overheating problem and temps here (SW New Mexico) regularly get over 100 deg. I had some aluminum plate that I used to make brackets for each side that the guard bolts to which in turn bolt to the radiator. Let me know if you need pics and I will take some for you.
