Don't exactly know what to think of an 8 speed tranny, but that 6.4 under the bonnet sounds like fun with a 5 speed manual.  :2thumbs:

I wonder if the 8 speed is going to be a manual or automatic?  8 manual speeds would be crazy, but potentially fun especially if it allow 5 or 6 to be fairly close ratio gears and 7th & 8th progressively higher overdrives?  They need to do something to get the MPG up and lose the gas guzzler tax.....

I want one, I really want one!!

8 speed auto is probably needed for decent mileage.  I guess the 6.4l hemi crate engine will be available shortly thereafter too.  :grinyes:

As stated before the 8 speed is an automatic. The price is most likely going up again on the Challenger. This 6.4L is a new engine based on the 5.7L hemi, not the 6.4L crate engine currently available based on the 6.1L hemi engine. It will have MDS to help with the fuel economy. Well maybe at least it will be cheaper ie priced nearer to the 6.1 instead of nearly double.

Why don't they use the dual clutch 6 speed DSG type tranny???? And to avoid GG tax all they have to do is get the weight down.

If its for 2011 then they should have finally updated from that stale old '70 retro grille and taillights to the classy, powerful 1971 style.

Too bad ;)
