Again, I'm just sayin'.......Some of those little bastids run pretty good.....How do I know? There's a guy that works beside me, had an Eclipse come in the shop with a spun rod bearing...dude buys car for $200.00...

Goes home, buys rebuilt HX52 Turbo, USED pistons and rods, USED crank, throws this little POS back together with less than $3000.00 in the whole damn car.....Wanna guess what it ran at the local 8th mile track for under $3000.00????

Try 5.80's @112 .......Now, I could argue that it wasn't daily driven, but he drives to to work everyday (Not on 45 PSI, but in "Street" trim @19 PSI)...I even could argue that he has Stupid money in that little turd engine.....I know he doesn't....I've got an 'ol skool 505 C.I. stroker in a Dodge Dart that runs a respectable high 6, 8th mile...I've got a little over 12 years and $10K in it...I just got beat by this little turd for 1/3 of the price. Hard to argue with plain 'ol facts...Congrats on your win, as I doubt anybody is willin' to post a lose story....

Hats off to that guy! Sounds like a smart cookie! There will always be someone faster. Not manylike him ....around here anyhow?

Not more than 30 minutes ago this guy rolls up next to me in a silver wrx .givin me the biz. Light went green and I laid rubber right past him.the next light up turns red.he decided to pull off..   :dunno:

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a "Tuner" by any means, but there are "Car idiots" in both sides of the coin...There are those with what I call the "Dairy queen" cams in that little 340, or big 440, that sound like they'd crush anything on the road...Yet, when they strap 'em to a Dyno, they are only puttin' 270 HP at the wheels...Same thing applies to the tuner cars as well...Some will haul azz...

Light weight, AWD, and lots of power make for fast little cars.  There are several low 10 and even a high 9 second Evos and WRx's around these parts.  Like someone else was saying that is in race trim. As capable as those little motors are, they won't live very long at max boost and race tune.

There is a kid down the block from me, has a sti, with a turbo upgrade, he blew by me in my challenger 500hp BB, like i was standing still!!!  I do have alot of respect for the tuner cars, and on the other hand, I have a 08 gt500 with a blower upgrade,(TVS) and a tune making 678 RWHP!!!! and that car is just plain scarey!!!

Nice kill!  As mentioned, some of them you really have to watch out for as they're insanely quick, but with a well-built V-8 the majority of them aren't an issue (STI's are pretty quick right off the dealership lot, though)...Just a forewarning, in case you ever see a chameleon/prismatic-painted car with a large "combat" wing (3000GT VR-4) around the streets of the eastern coastline, don't try to take him as that car is brutally fast! ;)

I'd love to do some turbo upgrades on my Stealth so I can really experience a fast car, but I'll just settle for my small twins in the meantime.

street challenged,
have I seen you on any stealth/3000 sites?
Ive got 15g's in my TT, and am now starting to log so I can install larger injectors and fuel delivery. I have the injectors and a safc2 (still uninstalled) and am shopping for a 255 walbro pump setup.
My stealth is definitely quicker than my 440-6. They are two totally different driving experiences. Old school vs. tuner.

that is funny , the kidd next door swears by hondas "they can do 8s in the quarter ya"

Maybe it was an 8 second car...from 0-60mph....  :roflsmiley:

Nah, I like the old and the new, have to respect both.  My broter in law went to the street drags where there were newish cars and muscle cars and the fastest cars were Subarus pulling 12 second 1/4 miles.  After the races he said they just hopped nin their cars and rove home.  A lot of these cars out of the box are good performers.  A performance tune, bigger turbo downpipe, headers and performance exhaust and they may not have the fastest car in the world, but quick enough and get decent milage.

As rediculous as these guys seem with the fart cans and what not on their Subarus, Hondas, etc... they are tinkering and racing around in what they can afford and what is currently available.

Think back in 1968 what was affordable and available.  Gasp at this but doesthe name "Road Runner" ring a bell.  Call me crazy....  :screwy:

There's a bunch of you Tube Vids about Smart cars with Hybusa (Spelling?) engines in 'em running low 10's 1/4 Mile, but i wouldn't claim one in a parking lot even if I had to walk...

Ya I saw a silver one for 74k.the black is sharp! I love the stealth fighter window lines. The car knows when it gets to a race track, and automatically prepares for battle. One of the rare cars  I'm really crazy about. A black one showed up at the last cruise.   I'd make a great rich dude.  :smokin:
