My 71 Cuda project

I am thinking of parting ways with my 71 Cuda and was thinking of a price around $15000 for the car and all of the parts that I have collected up for it.I have way more than that into it.I have the title,dash vin,the two fender tags,cowl and radiator support(which needs to be reatached because I changed the front frame rails).
This is a huge project and I just don't have the time for it.I know prices are down and the economy sucks right now and that isn't a heck of a lot about the car and what is included,but lets here some input?

36 people looked and no input?Heres an Idea of the amount of parts that would come with it,I also have a date correct 340 from intake to pan that has been tanked and checked and sitting in my home.I have over 25 grand invested with no labor,any input yet?I think I will just strip all the parts back off of it and sell em and try and recoup some of my $$$$.

Honestly, Doug, I think you'll do well to get $10k for it in this economy.  Yes, there's a lot of parts and it's a '71 Cuda and the date-correct (but not numbers-matching?) block is valuable, but it's still a big project.  I just sold my '70 Challenger R/T to another member here and mine had a machined 440 with almost all the engine parts (steel crank, rods, pistons, Lunati cam, rebuilt heads, Edelbrock intake, brand-new Edelbrock carb, new balancer, new water pump, etc) and a lot of new interior parts.  It needed some rust repair, but nothing major - just around the front and rear windows, a small patch on the lower right and the wiper bucket on the firewall - and fresh paint.  I got $7,000 and was happy to get that.  Like yours, mine was mostly in pieces and I put it on the truck with interior and trunk full of parts.

Thats what I am looking for,around the country input on what you all have seen sell and for how much?I am not selling because of $$$,I just don't have the space or the time for this one(I have my other cars,that I drive and enjoy)It can sit here of course until things pick up but I have to get real here and relize that yes you can have too many cars and I would like to spend more time with my children.So don't be shy and give me your input,even if it is bad.

Looking threw Craiglist There is 3 71 Rollers they are 6-7k.
and then theirs this They have tried to sell this for 14.5k 3 Months lator 12.5k Ads still up so prob not sold, Just a small idea what you can get I guess around 10-12k I think

Doug, I noticed you didnt say you were hard up for money, but rather that you  had no time for it.  Have you considered a trade?  I think you could trade for a turn key car of some sort what with yours being so desireable and all. Plus yours is a cuda not a barracuda.

I agree with Al.   A trade would definitely get you into a running car.  Probably a 2-4 but none the less a running car.  10K seems a bit high even now.  Hate to say that but prices are way down.

Here are a few cars I've been kicking tires on lately:

70 U-code Challenger, all there, needing resto...$6-8K

70 V-code Challenger, similar to above....$12-15K

71 Charger R/T U-code...turn key driver, could use a resto eventually, lots of nice options....$10K

If you were a total stranger, I'd offer $10K max for yours.

There are a ton of projects out there now and few are moving, even at fire sale prices.

OK I agree with you all here and have decided to keep it.Most feel it isn't worth the $15000 I was gonna ask for it,I had it for sale here on my front lawn this past weekend and was looked at like I was some kind of nut,which maybe true?I have done a ton of work and have around $25000 tied up in this car with no labor.So a piece of advice to anyone that is looking at buying one?save your cash and buy a done one.

  I knew that building my own Cuda would end up costing more than if I just went out and bought one, but I had no idea it would get as out-of-hand as it has for me. It's my own fault. There were numerous surprises along the way, but much of it was me deciding to replace/refurbish other pieces and parts "while I had the car apart". In the end, there was nothing left untouched and it got super expensive. Now that my car is just about done, it's obviously too late -- and it is what it is. I'm just going to enjoy the car and try to forget how much I have wrapped up in it. I'll never be able to sell it for as much as I have in it, but hopefully the enjoyment I'll get out of it will compensate.

There's something to say for the experience I've gained and everything I've learned, but I've got to say that if I'd have known how much this project was all going to cost in the end, I would've just bought a Cuda already done and been driving it for the past couple years.

Cars are investments, but the investments can go awry easily. I think when you are building a car, the investment does not always equal the return on the car once you try to sell. Hopefully it is the experience of ownership, and the pride of building the car that make it worthwhile.
Doug, your Cuda is awesome BTW, and I would think that you offered a fair price for it.

It also does not help that the market crash has certainly killed collector car prices

I dare you to build a good running Mopar for under 10K. it's nearly impossible when you start with a pile of parts. Lord knows, I've tried.
