Freaky Friday Story
« on: September 03, 2010 - 08:48:58 AM »
I don't remember if I've contributed to a 'ghost' stories thread here, but if I did you might remember me saying my son sees ghosts.  He's 24 now, but he has seen ghosts all of his life.  I won't go over story after story but one that I still think is funny is he dated a girl when he was 16-17 and the first time he walked up onto her porch he told her there were ghosts there.  The girl was amazed and told him they have a very active ghost in their 100 yr old house that routinely opens & closes things and generally makes himself heard fairly regularly.

Well, he got back from the MotoGP races at Indy over the weekend and I brought up the fact that a young racer was killed on the track.  He said he knew and that he'd met the boy the day before his accident.  He went on to say that he knew something was wrong when he met him and that he told his friend that he went to Indy with that there was something wrong/odd about him.  His friend just kind of shrugged it off, but then the next day when the young racer was killed his friend told my son he didn't want him sensing odd things about him!  I asked him what he felt, and he said he wasn't sure, maybe that he was timid maybe even scared which is the wrong way to feel if you're in that line of work.  I don't know if he just picked up on the racer's mood or if he somehow sensed something 'paranormal', but given his ability to detect spirits who knows.  I know this gift is something he's never wanted which is why he routinely turns every light on in the house so he can't see any ghosts.  Whatever it was my son sensed, my heart goes out to the racers parents & family.

oh wow, no offense but I never want to meet your son! I use to love scary movies & going to haunted houses for that little scared fun. Although after watching Paranormal Activity I didn't sleep well for 3 weeks. Now I can't watch any horror film. If a commercial comes on, I change it.

I can see this being a very touchy subject here... but I've had a strange experience or two myself over the years....

I know my son talks about how he was scared of them when he was very young (4-5 yrs old), and when he'd come into our room and say there were people in his room we'd 'check out' his room and then just put him back in bed, but I don't ever recall him saying any were intentionally 'scary'.  In fact one of his regulars was a young girl/woman who always read his 'Runaway Bunny' book.

I know it sounds nuts but it is what it is...

That's definitely rather eerie, but it's pretty cool to be able to detect that kind of stuff...I'm usually pretty good with premonitions, but can't say that I see anything else.

We don't "see" images, but the fact of what we call her lil visits. Some would attempt to explain it all away just as we have tried to do. But her old bedroom has a full length closet 3X12 on both ends of the room. The doors are still very plumb and true and the latches cleanly and distictly close and latch. I have closed them and then physically tried to pull them open, even to the point you could feel and hear the wood stop for the door strain with the force of the pull. But from time to time one or the other door will be found standing ajar even sometime half open or more. The other two bedroom clostes have the same kind of doors, they have never been found open  :dunno: Some mornings I've heard Pam say, "Mary, why can't you just close the door, if you open it please close it." We have two cats and Pam gets upset when she finds them in the clostet  :roflsmiley: BTW, this "phenom" has occoured throughout the year, so weather, humidity etc. does not appear to cause any misalignment with these two doors. We've come to accept it and now chuckle whenever this happens. Another thought : when I rented a couple rooms in this house from Mary when I was a single guy, Mary made it very explicit she would not tollorate smoking, drinking, or visiting ladies upstairs. Smoking and drinking were totally unacceptable, and if I wished to have a "lady" visit I was allowed to use the formal living room downstairs.  :roflsmiley: Mary the widow lady took me in when I needed a place to live, she also treated and accepted me like one of her kids, she at times would also prepare me meals from food she had bought, not a part of my rent agreement, she just did it.  Honestly, I'll have a sad feeling when we sell this house, I wonder if she will stay around her home? As much as I cared for her and appreciated what all she did for me, she dosen't have to feel obligated to move with us.   :smilielol:
