Best shift kit for a 904?
« on: September 05, 2010 - 05:37:37 AM »
Hey guys.  I want to install a shift kit, change the filter, fluid and stop the pan from leaking on my 904.

Whats the best shift kit these days?  I used to put the B&M kits in my muscle cars, I liked the chirp of the tiresand kick in the pants.   I hear Transo is pretty good.

Also whats the best type of gasket to use?  I recall reading here about a newer type of gasket that really does a good job.

Transgo would be my choice unless Terry feels differently

I went with a Transgo with my 727.   What fun!    :cooldancing:

transgo tf-2 in my 904. I have the mopar steel w/rubber gasket (good stuff, reusable). The part number should be floating around somewhere to pick it up from the dealership.

I remember racing a gal in a brand new IROC Z.  This was '88 or '89 and I was in my '73 Firebird with a 350 and B&M shift kit in the TH400.    I stayed dead even, looked over, our eyes met, then I punched it right before that hard shift and did a massive burn out into 2nd gear and left her in the dust.

Does anyone happen to know the part number of the new ruber/steel gasket?  i cant seems to make it turn up on a search of the forums
