Well that's a shame.

I really like the idea of these. Do you believe the problems could be rectified by a professional auto-electrician? Rather than sending them back for replacing?

I believe the problem to be in the controler unit? This is my second one that Larry has sent me with the same issue? Electronics are not my my strong point so I can't say for sure. It's bugging me that he hasen't returned the last 2 of my e-mail's now. :nono:

Found this on U-tube...

It looks like the Traditional Bulbs are brighter than the LED's. Is that right?

It does appear that way, doesn't it?

What Brad is talking about is an LED panel that replaces both tail lights. It fits inside the lens. Each panel has a little over 200 LED's in it.

Is the problem in the boards or the control module for the sequencing.  Have any of you purchased the basic units from Larry without the sequencing?  I have his boards in my '73 and they are fantastic - but I don't have the sequencing function either.  Just my 2 cents.

Russ - Did you purchase the tail lights from Larry?

I have no idea, electronics is not my strong point! :grinno: I had the exact same issue as Mike so I assume it's the control board? 2 control units now and the same problem?

No I havn't purchased any yet. Will be sending off a few emails soon, have a chat to the sellers, and see how wide spread these issues are before I make my decision.

I'm in the same boat as you though - I will be getting the non-sequential version. Maybe the error lies within the sequencing units only? Hope so :) (Sorry Brad! hahaha)

Also just a thought Brad ... I believe Mike (or someone in this thread) mentioned that the sequencing can be turned off if desired, for those with the sequential version. Have you given that a try? Turn the sequencing off, reverting back to the standard flashing, and see if the issue is still there?

I just got an e-mail from Larry. He apologized for not getting back to me, said he had a small heart attack.  :eek4:
Russ, I think I tried that but I'll try again to confirm.
Larry just sent me an e-mail that he is sending another control unit. Gotta give the man credit for trying his best! :2thumbs: Hopefully third times a charm?

Had a chat to Larry. Took the plunge, and a non-sequential set are on their way!

I'll drop a few lines, pics & vids once they're installed.

LED kit arrived from Larry yesterday. Unfortunately I also dropped the Chally off at the body-shop yesterday for some quick work on the rear quarters. Hopefully I'll have it back by the weekend so I can get these lights sorted.

Quick question for Brad & Mike - what wiring did your sets come with?

Reading over Mikes' posts, I get the impression he had to cut into the vehicles wiring to hook them up. Mine came with a standard 1157-type fitting attached - making it plug & play with the standard light socket.

Did either of yours come the same way, and you just decided to hard-wire them directly anyway? Mine is also the non-sequential set, so maybe that's the difference?

I'll chuck some pics up tomorrow of the kit - and then more of the install one I get my car back.

It sounds like you definitely got something different than I did. I had to tap into the existing harness. My sockets are just laying in the trunk.

 :iagree:
I had to splice into my stock wiring harness too.  :-\ Must have something to do with the sequential feature?

Back on page one in this thread there is a reference to the socket issue.  Non sequential gets basic bulb adapter.  Hope You guys get it all sorted out.

So there is ... I completely missed that. Thanks Tom!

"The non sequential system plugs into the OEM wire harness using our exclusive 1156 bulb based wire harness.
The sequential system contains a wire harness with a computer board control unit within the harness."

Here's the non-sequential layout:
