Questions about my 70 Cuda...
« on: September 06, 2010 - 05:57:54 PM »
Alright, here we go. n00btime ! I gotta get my hands on some stuff for my 70 Cuda.

Both doors are missing the long thing between the door and the window on the outside.
I guess there is supposed to be a rubber thingy keeping the water from going down into the door..
Now there is nothing there, so I can see down into the door where the window goes down..

 - Is there a word for that thing that is missing there...? What do I search for ?

 - And where do I find new windshield wiperarms ?

 - What is it called and where do I find a new messurement thingy which I was told is on the gasoline tank and is faulty so the gas indicator is dead.

 - And is there any reason why I should keep the original radio and not put in a new one? The old one sucks !
It's got manually turnable search buttons !!  :banghead:

Generally happy about my purchase. Exterior looks good. Painted 3 years ago. Enginebay looks good. Tidy. Sort of. New starter and battery. Could use some tuning though.
I have to do stuff to the interior. Lots of screws missing everywhere. Carpet is new, seats are new, dashboard vinyl looks ok, roof looks ok, instrumentpanel look like sh*t, glass on the instruments are so so, doors got loose mirror adjusters - they just come right out, nothing to hold them at the back of the panel..(atleast I think they are mirror adjusters)

you can get the radio reworked and have new things put in it.  I would love to have an old radio from a cuda to rework.  There are threads that show which vendors to use to get the upgrades.  Hope this helps on this part of your question.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

Thannks guys !

One more thing, there are no seatbelts in my car...? Was that optional on these? Or have they been removed by someone?

Someone removed them and probably made out quite nicely selling them on E-Bay.   :grinyes:

There are reproduction made now if you want to spend the money.

It depends on what year the block is.

Some have no VIN.

Some have it on top of the bell where the transmission mounts at the back.

1969 & newer have it on the passenger side of the block right above the oil pan rail.

I ordered the Cuda HT seatbelt kit and screws from PG Classics, and the window felt weatherstrips 8pcs set on Ebay.

Tried to buy new Quarter Window "roll on seals" on Roseville Moparts, but get no alternative for international shipping there.
Shame as I cant find anyone on Ebay with international shipping either. Kind of stuck on that one.

And I'll wait abit with the sending unit. I'll take a look at the one I've got first to see if it's an easy fix, and make sure I get the right one if I have to order a new.

Have looked the car over and it really needs more work here and there. The outside and the paintjob is ok, but underneath the car and inside underneath the carpet and backseats need a shine. Lots of surface rust around. Nothing serious, but it has to die now.

Think I have to paint the instrument panel too. And fix a crack in the front grille plastic.

But hey, what else am I gonna do over the winter..

Are there any brake rebuild kits for changing Cuda drum brakes into disc brakes?
