Hello there
« on: September 07, 2010 - 07:31:14 PM »
Hi
I'm just getting to the finishing phases of my current restoration ('47 dodge truck) and figure I should start researching now for my next project. I've always loved the 71 cudas (like everyone else) since seeing one at my first car show as a kid (almost 30 years ago) and I figure its time to start getting serious with educating myself on what to look for should I find an original one for sale over the next year or two. I'm a big Eastwood fan which featured an article from this site, and so here I am. Looks like a great place to learn all about my favorite muscle car.
Thanks
Mike

Hi
Sure. Always happy to show others all the completed work. The truck has a lot more done now but I've been working on it for over a year now, almost every night after the kids go to bed. The truck is restored with all the original components aside from a same year spitfire block. I have a replacement block that is the proper model but it hasn't been rebuilt yet. I'm particular about restoring to original.

I love the lines of the cuda. Love those billboards. I enjoy working on and driving my old trucks emensely but some times I crave a faster machine. I can't think of any better than the 71 cuda. For me it would be a summer commuter and local show car. Im a stickler for authenticity, Hemi, numbers matching, are nice in theory but I'm not paying a half mil like some guys are asking on ebay. I'd be in the 20 to 30k range (un-modded, unrestored but complete). I just need to see what all is out there. This would be a car that I would hope to keep for a long time.

Thanks everyone. Look forward to learning more about cudas here. Thanks also for the compliments on the dodge truck. Moparclown ended up not selling but I'll keep my ear to the ground and see if something comes up for sale.

There are some bargains to be had in this weak economy.  I'm sure you'll find a cuda soon.

You can call me RAY or RAYMOND or RAZOR or THE ZOR!
