Blinker problems-help
« on: November 04, 2004 - 06:01:33 PM »
Here’s the prob:
A right signal flashes only the left rear.
A left signal flashes only the right front.

My 4 way emergency flasher flashes all lights, all corners.
All running lights are on with the headlights on.

I’ve replaced all bulbs and the flasher (and my blinker fluid is full too.  ;) )

Any suggestions? This has been a head scratcher…

Also, my turn signal cam in the steering column doesn't hold the signal arm in the left signal position very well. Any suggestions for a replacement?
Thank You Vets!

T/A Care,
I feel your pain. If you want to "PM" me, I'll tell you my tale of woe. I wish I lived closer to you because I love this kind of challenge. I guess there is no chance someone put(forced) the connector from the steering column on backwards? It's a ribbon cable. Maybe a bad turn signal switch?

Hey thanks Mike.  I'm headed out right now. I haven't figured out the PM here yet but I have an email icon on my post that you can shoot you "tales of woe"  ;) if you'd like.

Blessings and T/A Care,
Trip

Can you help me remember where the turn signal switch is please?  ::)  Is it near the blinker switch?

15 years ago when I lived and breathed the car I could probably have gone right to it! Thanks.

the turn signal switch is under the steering wheel inside the column , you do not need to cut the wires , the plug will slide through the column , it plugs in under the dash

Thanks Chryco.  Any suggestions on where I can get a new one?  Also, will it have any affect on my turn signal lever not staying in position?

Maybe this will help, or at least this dealer can. I have bought from him and he is a good fellow. Yes, it ill help your turn signal lever stay in position too ;) It is all cheap plastic that dry-rots over the years.

Standard in has the part , I can order through the local parts store, I rthink the  part # is TW-7
you will have to disconnect the lever to replace the switch & when you install the new switch you can tighten the lever  properly

Check your grounds.... Try using a seperate wire from the ground side of the battery and touch the housings that dont work.

Check your local Chrysler dealer for these switches as well. Sounds like a bad switch for sure, plus you need one anyway to get a new cancel cam.
