Ralley wheel question... need help quick!!
« on: September 13, 2010 - 11:24:13 AM »
I just ordered a set of wheel vintique series 56 ralley wheels off summit racing. I got 15x7s up front and 15x8s for the rear. The only ones they listed for the fronts advertise a 4.25 (4 1/4) offset and 4.5 for the rears. Are the fronts going to look right? I noticed alot of people run 4.5 all the way around. If they wont work I need to know asap so that I can change the order!  Thanks. :2thumbs:

Yeah that was the thread that got me rethinking if I ordered the right off set for my rims. Carlwalski says that all 4 of his wheels has a 4.5 backspacing that he bought from Jegs. The only 15x7 series 56 wheels that Jegs or Summit shows is a 4.25 backspacing and the 15x8 are a 4.5 backspacing. So any input???

!/4" won't kill the deal, but what size tires do you plan to put on them?

On the fronts I'm going to run either a 235 or a 245 series tire. Out back I'll still be running 275/60/15 M/T drag radial just like what is on the Welds.

The backs sound fine, but I wouldn't go more than 235 on the front...If we are talking about 60 series?

Do you have 4.25" backspacing on your front wheels? If so, please ignore my previous post.   :misbehaving:

We have a 70 Cuda with 15x7 Ralley fronts and have just fitted the 15x8 Ralleys to the rear.
The 15x7's run 245/60/15 BFG Radial T/A's and fit on the front without any problems (the fit is also determined by ride height of course)
The new 15x8's run a 275/60/15 BFG Radial T/A and we had issues with the tyre on one side rubbing on the inside lip of the rear quarter panels.
Im not 100% on the what the backspacing is as the wheels came with the car, but we had the centres moved out 10mm (approx 3/8") on the rims to enable the wheels to sit closer to the spring. We didnt want to roll the lip up on the rear quarters.
The new measurement from the inner leaf spring to the tyre at the rear is about 10mm and the quarter panel inner lip to the tyre is now approx 10mm also.
Not sure if this helps. :2cents:
