499 cube engine forsale
« on: September 14, 2010 - 06:59:18 PM »
I got a 440 source 499 I am wanting to sell to build a different combo.  I will try to get a picture of it tonight.   It has around 500 or less miles on it. But the heads are fresh , just installed 2 days ago. I went from 906's to hp 915's 214/181 valves , new springs, new guides, shaved .010 thou to be sure they were flat. I had the intake face cut  .015

440 source 4.15 crank, 440 source magnum pistons. Flat tops with valve reliefs, forged of corse, 440 source rods. I had it all balanced here.Crank is drilled for a 4 speed and bushing installed. Malie rings, race bearings, melling hv 63 hv oil pump, holds 75 running 35 idle, new hemi pan and windage tray, cloyles true roller 3 key timing chain, lunati solid 585 lift cam at 110 center, degreed in. pistons are  .012 in the hole with  .020 steel gaskets. I have no intake installed. HP fuel pump installed and electronic distributer set in time as it sets. Engine has 3/8ths push rods ball/cup. 440 source roller rockers 1.5 ratio  Engine idles at 800 cam pulls exceptionaly good from 2000 to 6200.  The engine block is  72 400 #230 block, bored to 4.375, All the engine needs is an intake and carb. I took the 6pk off.

If you want to know the exact bore, multiply

4.375 x 4.375 x .7854 x 8 x 4.15    this is 30 over to make a 499

Asking price 3k  negotiable    You can pm me here

I'm further north than Brad, but if I was anywhere near you I'd be driving over with cash in hand.

Thoughts on HP and torque?

Was thinking of building similar combo but with alum. heads... this could be a very priced right alternative  :money:

Oh also on comp ratio.

One more quick off the top of my head, you mention race bearings... are they then suitable for street use or are they meant to only see so much run time before being replaced?
