440 electric water pump
« on: September 14, 2010 - 10:56:30 PM »
hey all,
my new 440 (sitting next to my desk at work, ha ha) came with an electric water pump.
i have read of issues with the stock crank pulley/belts not clearing (i don't have a pulley yet, or a water pump housing) with an electric pump.
does anyone run one? any advice?

440 source have a couple of options with their billet crank pulleys.
they have a twin v groove pulley at a smaller diameter that should resolve the clearance issue, as well as a billet serpentine pulley system.
anyone run either of these?

as always any help or info is greatly appreciated!

cheers!
aaron

I have always stayed with the simple reliabilty of a belt driven pump

ha ha yeah from forum searches i figured i'd get that response.
i was going to try the electric pump because it came with the motor, they are apparently pretty reliable these days,
and because, unlike the states, a replacement mechanical pump is not something you can just buy off the shelf here.
so electric or not, if it died on me i'd be stranded any way. and they look cool.

if it did die on me though, i promise i'll replace it with a mechanical!

does anyone run one?
just trying to work out the best plan of attack, with regards to pulleys, belts etc.

would running the smaller 5.25" crank pulley affect the power steering and alternator at low speeds/idle?
the motor will be mainly street driven.

cheers,

smaller crank pulley will rotate the alt & PS slower , I doubt you would notice on the PS but the alt would tend to discharge more at idle
