Header and bolt question
« on: September 15, 2010 - 04:44:14 PM »
Hey guys I'm putting back together my 340 and have a couple of header bolt questions.  BTW I'm installing TTI headers.

1. I know I need to put sealant on the 4 outter bolts.  But if I do that when I go to retighten after start up won't that loosen the sealant?

2. I want to install stainless bolts and don't know if I should get the locking or regular stainless bolts.  What are your thoughts?

3. Do you recommend the 12 point or hex head stainless bolts?

Any other thoughts you may have would be a help.  Thanks

A good thread sealant wont harden up so you won't have a problem there. Either 12 pt or hex ( I assume you mean like an allen head) will work. As far as a locking piece , I would use a external locking star washer. A regular lock washer will gouge into the header flange and make it difficult to remove. Not to mention more of a chance of removing the ceramic coating.
If I cant fix it, it's broke
