Re-assembly Finally Started
« on: September 16, 2010 - 02:57:52 AM »
Just found this site and I found it just in time. I started re-assembly of a completly stripped down to the shell 72 ralley. I am sure I will have all the "hey where does this go" kind of questions. At present my first question pertains to a picture of a 72 challenger firewall with nothing mounted. is there a pic of that on the site somewhere? Preferrably 4 speed firewall. I tried to post pics but I have not figured out yet how to get the smaller image from the image reducer to the post. Ya I know its easy right? LOL.

welcome     here`s a picture of a 1970 firewall I save from this board.  I`m not sure if a 72 is different. 4 speed or auto is no different,  ac or non ac is. this one is with ac.  good luck with your project... you can start a resto topic  in the members resto departement ..... we love pics around here.....  :useless:

Welcome, you have made the right choice, first there are a few talented people on this site who are more than willing to help and the second choice you made right also is to be not afraid to ask questions.   :2thumbs:
And don't forget to post pic's, I use VSO image resizer to bring the pic's to a reasonable size or you can use use photo bucket or similar.
Do a search as there is a couple of firewall pics on this site.
Dave

Thanks Dutch. Mine is slighlty different. I should have taken more pics. I told my wife it was all her fault because while I was slaving during the disassembly she should have been taking pictures instead of being inside with the air conditioner. She knew I was kidding but it sounded good to me. I will get pics up as soon as I figure out how.

The biggest problem is my sometimers memory. Some times I remember and sometimes I don't. We finished tearing her down last year and while somethings are very vivid. Other things come up a complete blank!

Hi Dave. I downloaded the net imaging they recommedned in the newbie welcome thread. I cannot get the pics from the net imaging to the post after I have shrunk them. Once I get around that I will put up the pics. I will check out the vso and see if that is more compatible with my limited computer skills. This is my first restore and I am glad I found this site where others have been where I am going. It helps immensly to have the proper information and can save a lot of headaches now and down the road.

Thanks I will try photo bucket when I have a little time. I still need to figure out where the hood release and the reverse light wire come through the firewall.

Hi Walt, nice car!  Welcome!

I really like the color!  My first car was a gold '67 Cutlass.  Feel free to ask lots of questions, lots of nice people here!

Eh, don't worry, Walt.  I've had mine since 2003 and haven't registered it.  I'm wicked slloooooowwwwww at doind things.  People have restored their car in less time than I've taken between oil changes.  (Just did my 2nd oil change in 5 years.  :faint:  Eh, don't drive it ya know... I know, should change it more often.  I get busy...  :pullinghair: )
