« on: March 28, 2002 - 01:10:29 PM »
Anyone know if I need to swap engine mounts when I swap a 318 to a 360 in my 73 Challenger?

bro, your be ok, only mounts that need a swap , woulb be if you were swapping over to a hemi!! all other mounts are interchangible.. sounds like a good upgrade! what mods if any are you doing to the 360?

Welcome
Actually D H you are incorrect the 360 does not have the ears cast in the same place on 1 side of the 360 , I can`t remember for sure but I think the left mount is different between the 318 & 360 , you can also space the mount back approx 1/2" & it will line up ;) The K frame is the same for both.

Chryco is correct, the left one is different. Dark Horse, the part # you're looking at is the MOTOR MOUNTS, which are the same. Chryco is refering to the motor mount BRACKETS, the steel part that bolts to the block.

right on, thanks heminut for clearing me up  ;) so for most engine swaps that are not hemi, are these brackets different like the 318 to 360 swap? so a 318 bracket is different than a 440/383??

???  Here I thought I was all set!? I'm about to make a 318 to 360 swap in a '73 Challenger and was told by a very reliable E body parts man that all I need to do was to take the 318 mounts and they would bolt up to the 360 block. I'm not sure now, and I sure hell would like to know before I sit that baby in her cradle. someone talk to me here!

when i got my 72 challenger, they replaced the 340 with a 318. when i switched back to the 340, i had to put the bracket behind the ear of the block i believe. i know i used the same brackets without modifying or putting spacers in. i just moved the bracket. i will look monday
on my brackets but it will be late before i will be able to post.

I did a 318 -360 swap about a month ago & had to space the left monut back approx 1/2" ,this was the 72 style not the newer 73 up style
