I was just going to start a post about a headliner for my 73 Challenger.  This info applies to both of us so I'll post it here.

I've seen some cheap ones(price wise...don't know about quality) on E-Bay.  I've looked at Legendary and they have good prices BUT they don't sell the correct ones for 73.(74 might have used the same material)  I havn't contacted them about if they can get the correct material but the ones listed aren't right.

I just got a material sample from SMS and it looks correct.  I havn't compaired it to my origonal headliner yet though.  Here's the problem.  They quoted me a price of $279.  Compaired to Legendaries prices, that is extremely high.

Does anyone have any experience with SMS?  Are their products of high quality?  Does anyone know if there is another company that sells the correct headliners for the 73 E-bodies?  I want to install the headliner myself.  I really don't want to risk ruining one at $279.

Honestly I'm not sure if its the same or not If someone here can tell me that would be great. I wouldnt want to sell something and have it be wrong for the person buying it.

The Cuda a Challenger headliners are different I think.  The Challengers headliner goes all the way down to the package tray area.   I think the Cuda headliner stops up at the top of the back window and uses an extra trim panel to fill the gap.

The problem with the Legendary headliners isn't that they don't fit.  I'm pretty sure they fit fine.  The problem is that they don't use the correct material.  If you don't care about being factory correct, their headliner will work just fine.  The headliner material for 73  looks like corduroy...not the stuff with little holes all over it.

74ralley...can you post a pic of the headliner material you have?

:iagree:
Burdar, I bought a new headliner 2 years ago from the Paddock. They listed both types of material for a '73 including the ribbed/corduroy type you are looking for. $75.00 for either type.  IMO, $279 for a headliner is ridiculous. I know businesses have to make money, but......
If you could find out who was supplying the Paddock before it closed it's doors, you might be successful in finding a source for the headliner you want. :2cents:

I just found out that Dante can get the correct headliner for the 73's.  It is a special order part and takes two weeks to get.  The material is called Yorkshire.  The price is $159.  Not cheap by any means but it's a lot better than $279.
