trans mount question

My FSM (74 cuda) shows a spacer for the trans mount. I assume that the spacer goes between the trans and the mount.

Will the lack of this spacer mess up the drive line angles, causing an RPM driven vibration?

Oh crap I think I put the 2 plates under the mount, like washers???

they used a long rectangular plate as a washer as the holes are elongated in the mount , they were never used as a spacer

Well I guess there are stupid questions. 

Any suggestions on what would cause an RPM driven vibration?  I was thinking pinion angle or trans mount issues (its new but that does not seem to mean anything these days).

Didn't you just swap out the driveshaft? Maybe it is out of balance?....or bent?

How about the bushing in the tailstock? Is it worn out?

Whew! thought I screwed up again.
A friend with a 69 charger is fighting vibration issues, had a lot of parts rebalanced to no avail, so many possible causes to test for,go with what was recently changed, if you did not have any problem before the changes. good luck, Rich.

Hey brad...yes I did just change the driveshaft, that fixed one vibration issue, but I have a new vibration. It could be the driveshat, and I will have it balanced over the winter, but wanted to look for other issues in the meantime.

Any chance the driveshaft isn't centered properly in the yoke?
If I cant fix it, it's broke

The wrong pinion angle will cause a vibration. Depending which way it is out, it can vibrate when accelerating then have a low vibration when cruising, or it can be on decelleration. Also see if the clips are on correct on the rear u joint. If you had a needle bearing fall on its side, it will throw off the balance. Some brake drums have balance weights on them. And impropper adjusted axles will cause a vibration if it is loose in the race. You can try a 2 degree shim kit and loosen your u bolts and try them on one side of the pad then the other. Sometimes when people install sway bars and or different lb leaf springs , it changes the pinion angle enough to cause the vibration.  And I guess you check for a slipped belt?  I didn't re read the whole post.

Could be an issue...was my first time doing u-joints...I could have meessed it up.

I asume that this can be checked by a visual inspection and verified by measuring how the yoke is siting in relation to the driveshaft?

I will alos check the clips on the rear u-joint.  I think I have them on correctly.

Belt in the tire..got it, will check.

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the help.  Turns out it was a few lose bellhousing bolts. :eek4:

All fixed up and ran really well on a short test drive today.
