Yip, thats how they were done back then with the white and high impact colors. Looks messy if you can see behind there, you want it looking shady and mischeivous 8) Cowl? Where abouts? Thats pretty much how it's going to be except the hood scoops will have one line of black at the back like the photo below which is basically how mine will look exceot it won't have the bumperettes and mine will sit a little higer at the back to make it look lighter. thumbs

Actually it was all colors but black that got the behind grille blackout.

The cowl is where your wiper screens are located(also the other VIN# stamped)bewteen the fenders at the base of the windshield, attached to the firewall.

Painting the cowl the same color, won't that look weird? I can't honestly say I've ever payed attention to it before.  ???

I saw in a MoPar mag about the behind the grill resto tips and they said that most cars except for black of course we're paint ths color but the lighter shades we're sometime left out by Chrysler.  ;D

Let me know if you want a better pic, but the top of the cowl is supposed to be black on a 70 that way you don't see body color when the hood is closed and you are looking where the wipers sit.

My cowl is blacked out and even has the factory run going down the firewall. The radiator support is kind of sprayed black with a lot of orange showing thru.

Needless to say, I will not have the runs in the new paint. QC was such a good thing on our cars :P

NZ, yours looks good with the radiator support blacked out thumbs

Rev, yours is looking good too thumbs...see, we don't have to pick which looks(blacked or not) better cause all our MOPARS look great grinyes grinyes

Thanks GoMango  ;)

Thanks also JS27NOB, I'll look into when the car arrives back and discuss it with my resto guys.
I'm guessing we'll leave it white as I'm sure it won't make much difference.  ;D

It's all the owners choice, I just brought it up seeing as you were touting how correct it was for the rad support to be blacked out. Thought you would have been interested. wave

Wasn't "touting" I was basically saying that it looks better, if correct is what I was going for the underside of the car would be white.

Thanks for your input.  8)

NZ,
Touting isn't a bad thing cool  bragging the benefits would be another way to put it.

I don't want to sound like an arse here either, I just don't want anybody reading posts to be misled so here it goes.

If you wanted your car to absolutely correct you wouldn't want to paint the underside, as the factory never did this, what ever color was oversprayed from the painting of the side was all they got.

Thank goodness for the factory undercoat tidying things up if so equipped.

Hey Plum,
Thanks for the compliment, you know how it goes though, they are never done! :)

Thanks Sam.  ;) Probably won't make much difference to you because it's in New Zealand. Bristol Motors/Daves Restos did all the body work and are doing the resto and Race Way panel beaters did the paint job.  :)

Thanks Topcat.  ;)  thumbs
