R/T Hood
« on: September 28, 2010 - 05:33:30 PM »
Need Measurements
1}R/T hood from center where the hood moulding mounts to windsheild edge?
2}The edge/side from where the moulding mounts towards the windshield should be the same as fender edge
{ie}Without moulding just hood it self
Are the edges at rear rounded some or pointed?

Here's a bump.  I know everyone here mostly owns a CUDA   but this will help get some attention for you..

I am showing 64" from the rear edge to the front edge running down the center of the hood. There is a sharp roll at the back edge - not "pointed". Same edge as the "windshield edge" of the fenders. When the fenders and hood are all aligned, the back edges and the front edges should match.

Thanks I have a repro bolt on ASC&P T/A hood and wanted to make sure.
It was pined with 4 pins before on what was used as a race car who needed a taller hood. Had it since 2005 and just getting around to it again now.
So I closed up the rear holes and blocked it out, and wanted to do all major work so I could fill the low spots.
I also Media blasted the underside to get the paint off that as well.
The only other hood I have is a glass R/T bolt on hood that was on my now parted out 71 since 1984
I cut the crappy scoops that came with it back then made a ledge for the factory scoops to be installed. And then added a factory section of metal cowl vents from a damaged parts  hood.
It was needed since motor would not fit under a stock metal r/t hood
It is not a hack job was done clean lol

You can see in this pic where I had to grind, glass closed the holes that were from the wide hood moulding that was on it in the past. And thena slight coat filler.
So I have no metal hood to go by and no fender here. Going to do both hoods and "Know" that they are done for later use

Also restored 2 SE Type rear hood mouldings today, one was toast but looks great.
Will have to open them up a little and take a little thickness off each hood to install them.

Just to let you know, the measurement I gave you was over a stock metal hood with the tape stretched over the bulge. Let me know if you need any other measurements (maybe from beneath the hood?).
