1970 Cuda + power house = Play toy
« on: September 29, 2010 - 08:45:45 AM »
I know I don't get over here much, so a litte info is on order 1st,,,,,but I'm sure at least a few here know me.

But the name is;
Bill Allphin
A+M Hightech Automotive

I'm a diehard Mopar fan, and a major detail fanatic.
Most know me via parts sales at most of the major shows.

After nearly 25 years in the Dodge dealership service areana, I decided to walk away and try my own thing, and so far so good. I opened my own place the end of this past May to get into vintage automotive service, maintentence and even full on restorations

I' ve been hired to finish a mans dream ride.  He had the shell painted approx 1994 or 95 and it's sat covered in the garage ever since. He's a pilot and with his schedule he finally decided he has no time to finish it. So I've been hired to take the bull by the horns and get it done.

Car in question USED to be an AAR, but since there is no way this car will ever be sold in his lifetime. He decided to build it HIS way.
Power plant is  Tim Banning . FHO 500" plus cuin Hemi , with a John Cope built 727 auto, all backed up with a new strange 3.54 dana out back

The power plant

I don't have much info , but I know it's over 500 cubic inches alum headed monster, over 500 hp and 650 ft lb of torque. It should pull the car around quite nicely

The dana is now in the car. mounted on 1" offset ft and rear spring hangers and . To allow a bit more tire under the car ( wheels and tires to be determined later )
Springs are custom built from Detroit spring , Hemi style but arched to replicate the AAR rear lift

Another slight upgrade in the name of comfort is a full Vintage Air A/C system

After nearly 2 full days of work, the insides are now completely covered in .080" thick dynomat type dound deadener.
I went with a product called 'rattle trap'  from Fatmat.com.
I have to say the work is well worth the effort,,, but it's time consuming work and a bit rough on the back.
Its covered from the base of the windshield frame to the base of the rear glass.

With the car getting  black vinyl top, I thought even the roof should be fully covered/ insulated.
