My car is presently in the body shop. I'm know what color I want but trying to get an idea of what I want to do for stripes or whether I want to put the vinyl back on it or not. Please post pictures. It would be appreciated. I have to come up with an idea of what I want pretty soon. Thanks.

My 73 is getting sprayed citron yella base/clear. My car will have the factory black strobe stripes black vinyl top, and black interior. We've already sprayed the underside and interior. I would post pics, but my computer is having issues and I can't resize the photos for the site requirements.

I'm going with Citron Yella base coat\ Clear coat as well. I don't think that I want to keep the vinyl though. It would be nice to see pictures of your car. At least what is done so far. As for stripes, i can go either way. I have thought about strobes but I'm leaning more towards the 71 R/T stripe with the hood blackout with a Go Wing. Don't get me wrong...I do like the strobe stripe but it's a difficult stripe to work with. Super Blue 72... I'm not looking for originality but something that looks good. I'm hoping to get some ideas from this post. I'm going with Rallye wheels but may change to an aftermarket wheel depending on how it looks with the Rallyes.  Does everyone agree with JH23 & AARCUDADEN that the stripes should be flat black? I have another question... I am going with chrome bumpers. I know that this is preference but do you think that i should go with chrome mirrors or painted mirrors(Same color as the car)?  Interior on mine is black as well. Rallye73..... I hope to see some pics. Pics of your car may change my mind about the strobes. Thanks for the post guys.

Since not going for originality, the '71 style rear quarter scoops are always cool, '71 stripe, '71 style go wing.... vinyl top makes it look classy IMO, body color top looks sportier.

Bingo! That is what I was looking for. 73Chally....Nice Car! That is exactly what I was looking for. The only difference is that I will be using a Go-Wing Spoiler. Are your stripes flat black? What do you think of the R/T body color showing through on the hood blackout along with the Chrome Dodge Letters(Honest opinion)? I'm trying to decide whether or not to exclude the chrome letters or not. What size & type of Wheels do you have? What size are your tires? Nice Job on your car. Well I have come to two decisions. 1: I will not be putting vinyl back on my car and 2: I will be painting the mirrors the body color. Thanks guys for your posts and input. I noticed that you did not black out the grill....Was that preference? That is another decision that I have to make. I'm thinking of blackening mine out.

I'm usually not a fan of other year stripes on the 72-74's but the pics shown here do look really good.  My preferance is still the strobes but that's just me.  The nice thing about stripes is that if you get tired of them, you can just take them off and get something else.

If I were you, this is what I'd do.  If you arn't going to go with the strobe stripes, DON'T put the fender louvers on.  Things get too busy looking when you have the louvers AND other stripes.   Also, they never made an R/T after 71.  If you are going with the 71 style stripe, don't put the R/T at the back.  I perdonally don't like seeing R/T emblems or graphics on non R/T years.  Same goes with the hood blackout.  It looks really good with yellow paint but don't have the R/T graphic in the blackout.  

Finally, if you have the raisin bran hood, please have the scoops painted body color like they should be.  I hate it when people paint them black.  Again, just my

Thanks for the compliments.  The wheels are AR Torque Thrust IIs, 17x7 front and 17x8 rear.  The tires are 235/55-17 front, and 255/60-17 rear.  The rears are pretty much as big as I could get without any modifications. 

I toyed with all the thoughts you are having, and this is how it ended up, and I would not change a thing.  The stripes do not look right without the RT at the end, because they come up too short.  I never really did think about the grille blackout, but don't think I would change it, either.  I have seen some nice looking ones with the grille blackout, so it's worth looking at if you think you might want it.

I guess to each his own as to how they build their cars, but like I said, I would not change anything on mine.

73Chally -  You have a really nice car!  I also think you did a fantastic job with your car.  I am planning on doing the RT stripes as you did.  Only thing different is I am going to put a front spoiler on. And leave the Dodge letters on the hood in the blackout.  Again nice car!

Challenger_73   I think you cant go wrong with using the RT stripes. Not all of us can have 1970 or 71 RT.  So you just need to make it so you like it. Because in the end.  Thats all the matters!
