2012 Charger-who knows about it? Pictures?
« on: September 30, 2010 - 07:48:13 PM »
Been considering a new car for the wife, but I need 4 doors and want to stay loyal. The current charger has been growing on me, but if it looks anything like this, and it supposedly does, I just need to know where to put down my deposit.

that looks alright, but it says its the 2011, with just a facelift.
I found this tease shot, and if its real it is a major redesign, and the line forms behind me:

I think that was the original prototype for the Charger, which I thought was much better looking.

the tease shot sure looks a lot like a production version of the 99 concept car. The door handles, the fake "recessed" front fender/door vents a la the viper, etc.

Sorry but the 2012 Charger looks like the 2011, which is a facelift on the current model. It will not look like the concept car.

again, thats the 2011.
Do you have anything for sure on the 2012 being the same car?
If so, what year might they redo it?
The one shot looks a little like an Intrepid, but I love that concept car.
Why they couldnt produce something like that I dont know. Bean counters maybe?
Who the heck are the people who made the decision to produce the current Charger over that 99 500 Charger? They would have sold 2 or 3 times more of them, at least.

The 2012 and 2011 are the same car, this is not a 1 year change. Here is a plan for Dodge through 2014, note the change in the Charger for 2011 and no more changes until after 2014. This is from Dodge's restructuring plan.

Would love to see a pic of the whole car!  If it does look like the 1999 concept, I would even forgoe thinking of getting a new Challenger as a family car....

Needs 2 doors, Not 4 , No Grocery getting R/T's please. Hell have both options, I seen somewhere there a guy who is taking the 4 door models and converting them to 2 door models, way cooler looking and the body lines look classic and I think it would sell like hotcakes.

That would be a vast inprovement for sure, but just how accessable and what about room in and getting into the back seat with that roof design? But it definately would look better. The 4 door only is BS, no reason they could not at least make a 2 door option. And like 99% of everyone's thoughts, the '99 concept was the best they have ever considered, and it actually got the best reviws and acceptance, so why did they abandon that design? If you put out a prototype and it is well received (aside from the 4 door box) why produce what they did?  :dunno:  :clueless:

:clueless: :dunno: It even looked like charger at certain angles. The new ones are not bad if sat in one at a carshow and was not what I expected. The concept was sexy to say the least.

Look at it this way, if they stuck with the 2 doors there probably would never have been a production model.  They have to go with what the majority of the public wants.  Hopefully they will follow GMs lead (who ever thought someone would say that?) and develop a 2 door model, just like they did with the CTS.

The only negative I really have to say is that I think they should have named it the Coronet, since that was at least available as a 4 door, but they were pretty much stuck with the name because that is what was on it when they rolled out the plan.

:clueless: If they did make a Charger with 2 doors....would the new Challenger even come to life?  It's on the same platform...would be very similar except for the nose/tailpanel...  :dunno:
