Use to be a GM guy till 1979 (19 at that time). I was stationed over seas and my room mate was big time Mopar and kept telling me anyone can own a GM or Ford but Mopars were much rearer and way better to own over all . 7 months into my tour I sent money home to my brother to purchase a 70 383 Cuda from a friend for me .

first toy car that I had that I loved was the "Toyman" 72-74 Dodge Challenger Matchbox drag car.

Grew up reading Hot Rod and Musclecar Review.  Fell in love with the Super Bird.  Had a very dog eared copy of Musclecar Review that was dedicated to Road Runners.

first car was a 1980 Volare, 2nd was a 77 T-top Road Runner 318 4spd Super Pak car.  Have had to have at least one since.

I grew up around them.  My parents owned Plymouths and Dodges.

So, they are in my DNA!

:iagree:  Same here my dad had some cool chryslers growing up including a 62 300 that came with cheater slicks from the factory and he know what to do with them too.  You know what is said about first impressions they last and that was mine.  He raced my cousin that had a 409 chevy and won the race kept my cousin silent over that subject till this day!
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

Bought a 71 Challenger at 19 because I thought it was a really sharp car. Naturally, after that, I became a life long mopar fan!

...in 1973 I was returning from overseas and the only new cars I liked were the Cuda/Challenger, because they had smaller bumpers, big 5 mph impact front bumpers had just come into law and they looked like rolling bumper cars at the fair..bought a new 73 red CUDA 340/AT

...next one was a 78 Dodge Magnum, just liked it because it was very different, then a 69 Daytona and a 70 T/A and the die was cast

Mongoose and Snake Hotwheels were my 2 favorites prior to 1972. Then in March 72 the parents bought the Gran Coupe. By the time I was 15, I really started liking the looks of the Barracuda. Then seeing other Mopars cruisin on Friday nights opened my eyes to the world of Mopar. I think it was the louvered fenders I saw on a Cuda in a junkyard that really wowed me and woke me up. Before I turned 18 in 1978, I was hook, line and sinker for Mopars.

I came so close many times to being converted over back then...Ford and GM.

I started out as a huge chevy fan in my younger years. Then just out of high school a buddy bought a yellow and black T/A.  Riding around in that car and looking out at that snorkle hood scoop was something I never will forget.  Changed my whole out look on mopars. A few months later I stumbled upon my cuda sitting in a field while driving out in the country. That was about 34 years ago.

I grew up in the oil pits always serounded by Chebbie.  I hated the same old car after car after car.  :misbehaving:
One day my brothers buddy took us for a ride in his Roadrunner.  I am still trying to get my ass out of his back seat.
I had my work money saved and the first thing that we came across was a '73 Barracuda: SOLD! :woohoo:

i blame my dad and oldest brother. my dad bought my oldest brother a used car after his high school graduation(1969-70, montebello high school)-it was a 66 coronet 440, ivy green, black bench seat int, with a 426 hemi 4 spd. he KILLED everything he messed with. even his best friends old 454 4 spd chevelle.
my dad always had a soft spot for old mopars. but when the first gas wars started in the 70s, my stupid brother sold it for peanuts and bought a lame a** 75 4cylinder chevy monza... :banghead:

Whilst these might seem all too common for US folks, growing up in Oz, they were like mythic creatures. The imprint the 2 of these left on my psyche was monumental - and 15-20 years later, it's done nothing but grow!  :bigshades:

ZACTLY! As much as many don't want to admit it, these two cars have had a monumental effect of whether or not you chose Mopar.

I actually saw Vanishing Point for the first time a few weeks ago.  I wish that I saw it back in the day cause it was quite boring to me.

Vanishing Point was a big influence to me on why I like Mopars also. Saw it at the drive in when it came out in my Cuda I own now. I couldn't drive then. My first R rated movies I ever saw. The movie co played with Omega Man starring Charleton Heston.
