In 1980 stationed in N.C I had a chance to buy a 1970 AAR Cuda for $1100.00 . Just got married and didn't have any extra money . "wish I knew then" Oh well . :horse:

I passed up a 1970 Hemi Cuda back in 1976 it was panther pink all over with dog dish caps and rubber bumpers.  Kick myself because I could have drove it home for $1500.00.  It was faded but would have been nice to put up somewhere.  Only reason I did not get it was because of the color.   :horse:

I don't think I screwed it up, but...About 1985 I met a guy who had a Superbird sitting in his front yard, rusty, hadn't run in 7 or so years. I talked with him (seriously) about buying it, but even though we talked about pricing and details he never settled on selling it, and I couldn't blame him.

This is the God's honest truth. When I was 14 I had bought a 1941 Plymouth that I was street rodding. I put an 318, Auto, & an 8 3/4 rear. It wasn't finished but all the hard work was mostly done.
I was at a swap meet when a guy pulled in with a 440 4bl Superbird. It ran and drove but needed a complete restoration. I forgot what he was asking but he was intereseted in trades. I told him I had a street rod he wanted no part of that until I told him it was all Mopar. I offered him my car and $5,000.00 cash. This was in the early 80's. He told me to get my father and we would work the deal out.
I ran around got my father and brought him to the Superbird and my my father said absolutely not, no way.
Still do this day when I am at his house I pickup the Hemmings Motor News and I read him the Superbird ads.

Let me guess it was an automatic car? You know there were only 2 of those cars built and my buddy has the only 4 speed car and it doesn't have rubber bumpers.

The worst deal I ever screwed up on was in the late 90's I could have bought a 66 or 67 (can't remember which of the 2 years it was) numbers matching hemi charger for around $6k and it was a finished car. But I was just getting into Mopars and thought it was ugly (and wanted a Nash Bridges 71 cuda) so I passed.  Oh well C'est la vie.

Thought. I would love to see those 2 cars in the same place at the same time, that would be a sight to see. Last I heard those car were worth in the 7 figure range. Not to hijack the thread but does anyone know where the pink hemi cuda in question is today?

The one I saw was in southern IL at Carmi IL.  Have no idea where it went too but I think of it often.  It ran and that was when the gas crunch was on and it sat there for a year or more just could not bring myself to get it.  Passed a AAR up in 1983 for 1500 and could have drove it home.  I had already bought a 1970 Challenger at the time with a 340.
Maybe we need a thread of the ones that did not get away too!

Now that I think about it another bobo was in 76 . My first car was a 57 Chevy 2 door sedan . Nothing special 307 in it lots of body fuller, but being my first car and having built it out of 3 or 4 cars it was special to me . Any way had a chance to trade it for a 440 Road Runner with 2 4 barrels not sure what year the Road Runner was but either way looking back I know it was WAY better then my 57 . :swear:

In the 90's I passed up a 1970 Road Runner clone ( 70 Satellite) for $800 because I found a hole the size of a quarter in the frame rail. The rest of the car was pretty good painted on the bottom as nice as the top.
I'm still kicking myself..........
Even now I REALLY want a 70 GTX,RR or even a Satellite!

I missed one this past July,It got listed on craigslist and was a 71 Cuda 340 shaker car and it sold for $13000 had new paint(gold)and a brand new 340 engine with all paper work from the engine shop, had not even been started yet.Car was relisted 3 days later by the new owner for $35000 and sold, the new owner paid $27000.Car keeps showing up to plague me,was in a recent auction for an AAR out near Boston. You could see the tail end showing in the garage in the background,I know it was the same car because a very good friend had driven out to check out the AAR and told me the story from the present owner :horse:

Not screwed up but had the chance to buy a 1971 Intermeccanica Italia.  Guy had cancer and dropped the price from $8,000 to sell it quicker.

For those not familiar with this car, in a Pantera sense, an Italian body was mated with a SB Ford V8, very few were made.  Most came through with passenger car 351 Windsors.  This one came through with a Holmon-Moody Boss 302 pushing over 400hp.  I had recently bought the Challenger so this wasn't a possibility.  Wish I could have gotten it.  Looked like this one but black.

1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.
