What classic MOPARS do you really not care for?
« on: October 06, 2010 - 11:10:32 AM »
I saw this topic on the Charger site and found some surprising opinions and was curious what everyone here has to say. So what mopars do you pass right on by at a show because it doesn't tickle your fancy?

I personally don't like to much before 1964  . . . .  :dunno:

I have to agree with you on the pre 64 comment. Except for 33-34 Plymouth's. Oh and C bodies are only good for parts.

I guess it would be the '62 Dart with those ugly offset headlights.    :screwy:

I see you said "classic". I pretty much like any old car someone has restored, and I won't pass by them, but I'm not a huge fan of the big old 4-door lead sleds (Newport, New Yorker, Monaco, Imperial ect). I like to see what's been done and like to see all the old school instruments and interior layout, but I will often walk right by the NEW cars that come out to car shows. I feel I can look at them any thime at a car lot. I know it's someone's "baby" and may have some cool mods, but I don't always go look. Surprising was a car show my car club did recently. It was an all Mopar show for old, new, any Mopar and a "People's Choice" for awards. The awards just proved what I felt. For the most part the new vehicles were overlooked and the old classics got all the awards. There were a few newer vehicles with some really nice custom paint and interior that were recognized, but for the most part the new vehicles were just ignored.  :screwy:

Well if it is a mopar and looks good or has potential for looking good I will look.  Just a mopar nut I guess.   :woo:

Those poor 62 Darts. Not my favorite at all. A friend of mine has 2 fully restored 62 Darts, a bone stock 318 car and a max wedge clone.

I don't know if they are old enough to be considered classics, but the front wheel drive years were just embarrassing! K cars, or the worst the Jap "Challenger" or the so called FWD" Charger" in the 80's. Oh man.. :puke:  that's when I switched to GM......
I remember going into a Dodge dealer in the late 80's with my 73 Challenger looking to see what they had to replace it as the frame was really rotten. This salesman tried to impress me with a Shelby omni ?? He squealed the tires heading out of the lot and went around a few corners fast trying to impress me.... :grinno:
I got out went to my Challenger with him following me asking what I thought. I started up the Challenger and said "dude I don't want some FWD piece of crap and....this is how you spin tires" and left him in a big smokey burnout.

Restored ones.

Most of these cars did not stay stock for long, so seeing one returned to stock nearly bores me to tears.

I actually like the 62 dart.  I like most, 2 dr cars  & wagons... never cared much for 4dr models of any year.
.....and a serious engine can polish up some ugly details on the exterior....  :smokin:

Didn't the Dart and the model 440 Polara have the same body style in '62 ?  I didn't think they looked too horrible and those push button wedge cars were mean a$$es.
But since Classic is the key word here I disdain the '70 Cornnet, just hate that grille. Sorry.  :dunno: But a lot of people like them.  :2cents:

A buddy of mine in high school had a car real close to this.....

Other than that particular car, I'm not a fan of the C body.
