I don't believe the Tuff wheel was an option for e-bodies? I could be wrong though?

Not an E-Body option for any model year.

Lots of folks like them, so it has been a very common swap over the years.

Do you know there is a lookalike being produced as well as one in wood?

The MBI publishing company, Red Book , Peter C. Sessler 1991 edition page 54 lists an option

S84 tuff steering wheel  $19.15  for 1970 Challenger, does not appear to be an option for

 the 70 Cuda        :wavingflag:

The Chrysler parts book for 1970 does not show it as being available for the Challenger.

None of the factory literature shows it either, but you are welcome to look;

I trust those books about as much as I trust a chevy guy trying to sell mopar parts.  Those books have so much incorrect, it is funny.

And yeah, no E-body ever came with a Tuff Wheel from the factory.

So ... if no ebody Challenger left the factory with a Tuff Wheel was it a Mopar Direct Connection option that you could bolt on from the dealer??   Or, perhaps a part that happened to fit, but was used on other Mopars?

Since so many ebody owners have these, I am presuming that it is considered an accepted bolt on option that doesn't de-value the car from an authenticity perspective?  Is that a safe assumption?

What do you guys think?

It wouldn't have been a Direct Connection or Scat Pack option.  It was just a replacement part for a different car.  I feel it would only devalue the car to someone who wants the car to be 100% original.  It is held on by 3) 7/16ths nuts and can be changed in less than 30 minutes.  If you like one and worry about it hurting resale in the future, run one on the car and keep your original.  It is easy to change back to the original.

I completely agree.   Same goes for any bolt on option that is easily reversed ... like aftermarket road wheels, or under the hood parts that are a straight swap.   They are the things that allow us the ability to make our cars unique without butchering the originality; especially if you have a unique VIN car.

my feeling for anything is, is that it is my car and I am gonna run with what I like and I choose and if someone doesn't like it that is their problem because it is my car and I like it AND I PAY THE BILLS NOT THEM!!!! I have a tuff wheel on my car that came out of a 70 rt/se so who knows if they were really stock!!   :dunno:

Okay .... I am confused again.    So .... is the S84 option a legitimate option for the 70 Challenger or not??   Perhaps unique to Challenger SE/RT's??   If someone out there has the S84 option .... is it the Rim Blow ...or a Tuff Wheel?

Just wanted to settle this once and for all that are interested?

BTW .... I agree .... do what you want with your car .... it's your money.   There are originals and there are re-creations ..... they're all fun to the individuals that own them.   I didn't build mine with the idea of someone else liking it.  :iagree:   It's a hobby ... have fun, before it's too late.
