Greg, thanks for your concern my friend!
If you read my links you will see that the ticket I got is bogus and not a real ticket from the court. It is a letter from the company in Arizona that runs the cameras. They send it to the folks who get caught that they can't identify from the info they have from the cars registered owner according to their DL info. They couldn't see my face, I had the sun visor down. Another lesson learned, if you think you are going to get nabbed, hide your face. There is a list of cities that use this tactic.
So they need to identify the perp in hopes of salvaging their chances of getting the $5-600. They send you the letter and ask you to name the driver. There are 3 choices. 1.) you 2.) Someone else <please include a copy of their DL and info> 3.) Sold the car <Please list the name and addy of the new owner so we can send them this same letter> If you fill this out the person you name will get the ticket. You just snitched on them or yourself.
This is not a real ticket from the court, only a letter from the company that runs the cameras. If you ignore it there is nothing they can do about it. In fact there is not even a due date on the letter and it even says "Do not contact the court" They will not know what you are talking about.
My hope is this helps someone here save the $5-600 the ticket will cost, and the point on their license that will probably cost $1000 or more over the course of the 3 years.
