Start of the Winter Blues
« on: October 16, 2010 - 11:25:03 PM »
Not sure if it's because my football team sucks (Iowa State) or because my car is still 8 hours away and we're living in an apartment while we house hunt, but just feel bad/sad/glum right now.

Anyone else?

House hunting? You can buy mine & my winter blues will go away.

I started a new job Tuesday, so far so good. My winter was looking pretty dismal, not anymore.

Selling the house at this point would be a bonus though.

I'm feeling those blues just a little bit because my Huskers lost today. Maybe they aren't ready to play with the Big Boys yet. Also, I was hoping to have my car done by now -- so that I'd have a chance to drive it before the weather turned bad. Due to a few setbacks, the completion date has already been pushed back an extra 6 weeks. Now, I'm not sure if it will be done before I'll have to put it in storage.

Oh, well. Hopefully, the Huskers will finish the season strong and build on it next year. I root for Iowa State (except when they play Nebraska), and I have faith that they'll come into their own one of these days. And, it's only a matter of time before I'm united with the car. As quickly as time passes, Spring will be here in no time and we'll all be happy again.

Feeling it too. I know that my window for painting is closing fast or if things stay the same it is assumed closed. If not for some setbacks I'd be ok but looks lime I'm gonna have to wait yet another season to get color on. :crying:

I've been driving the wheels off my cars these past couple of weeks. The weather here has been perfect for this time of year  ;D But i know its only a matter of time now and it all goes down hill so i'm making the best of it now while i can.

I never believed that seasonal affective disorder was any big deal until I lived in the Michigan UP. There was so little sunshine in the winter that when I saw sunshine at my window (forcing its way through all the piled up snow) I'd stop whatever I was doing and run outside (into the average 20 degree temps) just to enjoy it before the next cloud covered it up. I frequently felt what you're describing when I was there.

YEP definitely know old man winter is on his way . . . . I have been so busy just trying to prepare for winter that I haven't had time to drive the car.   There is just way to much to do just trying to get ready!  Here is a short list:

Winterize sprinkler system
Winterize jet ski's (2) take to storage
Winterize ski boat & take to storage
Winterize pontoon boat and cover
Winterize convertible and cover
Winterize inground pool and cover
put away all the outside furiture
Clean outside grill and store
Rake all the leave that have fallen
Pull the dock out of the water
Remove all boat and jet ski hoists
Everything needs to be cleaned too!    :pullinghair:

I wonder why I don't like fall that much??  :screwy:

I'm not trying to brag here.  Seriously, I don't know how you guys handle it.  I am in Fl. and have lived in the snow (Indiana).  I know it can get pretty depressing.  I hope you can find a good winter project to pass the time with.  Hopefully, it will be a mild winter.

I'm at least a little optimistic, but it's hard.  We found a house that we like (and it has a shop), but a portion of the land is in a flood plain, so I now have to wait for FEMA to certify that the house is not in the flood zone or the relocation company that my employer uses will cease a portion of my benefits.  Not to worry, FEMA should only take 90 days, or so.  :villagers:
