I don't doubt it was huge the way you described. Anyway, here's one but not even 35 lbs. Maybe 10-14 lbs.

Not much for fishing! Seriously, that is about the same size as the one I saw except mine had short grey hair and I remember was so muscular I saw its muscles ripple under the bright parking lot lights as it slowly walked away.  This thing was huge and I have to believe weighed more than 10-14 lbs based on what dogs weigh of similar size and 'thickness'.  There wasn't any fat on this thing and it was stout.  Like I said, it was the largest I've ever seen and that end of underground had been closed for 10+ years from when the cut through the original underground to put in the Marta train line.  The one in the picture in the story you linked to is about as long as the one I saw but much more shaggy and less stout and I would guess it weighs more than the 10-14 pounds you say.  Again, based on what dogs of similar size weigh.  The one I saw was huge and like I said only caught the one out at midnight walking across a large empty parking lot.

Now, there was that 22# brem I caught as a kid ...

Not to change things but last spring I had a skunk chasing me around . My neighbor came out and shot it for me . Not very fast , (skunk not me I ran like hell) ,looked healthy , the state police showed up I thought someone called (gun shot). Turned out the old lady next door (83) called , it had been chasing her too . Guys at work told me they will do that some times . Either way no one seemed real concerned so I dumped him on the road side in the country .

Skunks will stand their ground to anything or anybody. They will first start pouncing the ground with their front feet telling you "warning" dont get any closer to me. Then if you stand your ground or don't retreat back up, go the back legs and the glands dispell the scent no living thing can resist. Keep your pet foods inside at night especailly if you live out near any country areas. That attracts them and will begin making home nearby if you do.

 Yea, no cat food outside....Skunks do show up along with possum, raccoons and other cats in the country

I may not have said this clearly, what I saw was definitely a rat with short gray hair.  I've seen possums a lot smaller than what this was.  I guess its one of those things you got to see for yourself to believe like flying saucers, honest politicians, etc.

I found poop on my brand new seats and evidence in the other car, so......

There was good anti-mouse advice on a Charger site I used to frequent, but I got banned for having an opinion. Anyway, I remember moth balls, but they stink. There was something about charcoal briquettes, but I don't remember if you put them under the car, in the car or both. Apparently, mice hate them.

Irish Spring doesn't smell much better than moth balls IMO, but it works.

Steve - I put charcoal under the car ALL YEAR AROUND. I put a bit in the trunk and inside over the winter.

Caution - no NOT use the matchlite kind

I never had MICE in my cars... just in EVERYTHING ELSE!!!

A few years back I had a small farm & bred chooks, they are a magnet for the rats & mice, almost every night I would take my .22 with "Rat Shot", less spray and you could get 2 rats if close together. I had a "Gun Cat", same as a dog but a cat and he would follow me down every time he heard the door to the gun safe open. I did set spring traps but started to lose them so had to nail them down, baiting was good but cat would eat dead rats and vet charged $90 for injections to fix him up. When I would change the straw on the floor both the cat & dog waited for the rats & mice to come out, they loved that.
