72 Challenger trunk torsion bar pics
« on: November 12, 2004 - 11:03:28 PM »
I asked this first about a year and a half ago, but maybe someone new might have some good pics.

I need pics of a 72 Challenger trunk interior (both sides) where the torsion bars fit in the slots and holes to hold the trunk open.  I only need the 72 setup, since different years used different bar configurations (one bar versus two bars coupled together).

70 also used 2 bars , they went to a single bar for 71 but the trunk lid never sits flat on them so they went back to the 2 bar system in 72 , sorry i don`t have a good pic

I've been shooting stuff, got lots of things to edit on the show. Hoping to work on it some between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  I'll let everyone know when I have something new.

Videomagician,
I can't believe you've waited so long for such sorry pictures, but I'll give them to you. My image reducing program has bitten the dust(Murphy's law). I used the one posted on this site, but the pictures came out $hitty madvibe Let me know if there is any particular area I can shoot for you. The first is the right side, the second is the left. On the left side, the extra bolt is a ground connection for my new amplifier thumbs

I'm so happy!  For the first time since I've owned it, the trunk stays open WITHOUT a stick!

All the pics I received from everyone here really helped!  Even with the pics, we still couldn't get it to work right, until we found a tab near the back of the right bar that was bent down, letting the bar slip out.  Rich bent it back up and now it works!  Now we've got to paint the remaining stuff.   Also, I've got a leftover set of torsion bars that we first tried (I think they were originally in a 71 vert) if anyone is in need of them (I can look up what I've got in them.)
