Nice day for a Cruise in the fall.
« on: October 28, 2010 - 09:29:43 PM »
10-24-10.  A bunch of friends and I decided to take a 60 mile drive up through Alton and Grafton, Illinois, on the way to Pere Marquette State Park. The leaves are changing color for the season and this Mississippi river road goes right by St. Louis between Missouri and Illinois.  I thought I would share a couple of pics.  The weather was right about 74 or 75 degrees which is very comfortable in a 440 challenger with black vinyl interior. (my back wasn't hot)

My Orange Challenger is in the Pic above and below.  (the bad A$$ looking one) LOL!
The Camaro was brand new with a factory white hood scoop and 454 emblems. The Mustang was a new GT350. Both I wouldn't test a 40 year old Challenger against.

I love driving my car.  I hope to have the Convertible done for the Power Tour next year.

I've wanted to check out Fast Eddie's myself. Too bad I had to run home for my niece's play. Maybe next time.  The drive with the 12 cars was nice but cruising with 3000+ cars is better. That's why I try to do some of the Power Tour every year. Thanks for the cool pics Mike.  I'll have to show you how to use PhotoBucket so your pics don't get deleted after a few days.

Nice pics guys!  You friends have cooll cars!  All mine have Hondas...  :crying:

The second pic, what car was that taken from?  Like a '70 Road Runner/GTX or something?  I love how it says 383 and has the directional lights inthe scoop!  Coolness!

That is Doug's Roadrunner in ths pic below:
The bottom Pic is from my Challenger. I just love the BULGE hood on OLD Challengers.
(look at a new Challenger's hood when it is open. It looks like a baby hood)

Wow! 10/17/10 my wife and I took the Daytona up the river road to Grafton.  We stopped and ate at the Finn Inn in Grafton.  We must have seen 30 mopars.  Infact in the restaurant parking lot there was a 70 and 71 convertible Challenger.  The way the weather was made me wish I had taken the vert rather than the Tona.  That is a great cruize!!!!

Thanks for the pics guys.

You don't realize how big those Cuda rallye hood scoops are until you're looking at them from the front seat.

10-17-10 I drove with the Metro East car club down to southern Missouri to Ste.Genevive, hit a winery, then had the ferry bring us back across the river. We then drove north back to Columbia, Ill, where we started from. Fall and Spring are the best seasons to drive in, the fall giving the best view.
