Car:  '69 Barracuda - Fastback

Engine:  572 Hemi

Transmission:  727

Rear Diff:  Dana w/ 4.10 gear.

No power adders  --  all motor.   :2thumbs:

Vehicle race weight:  3500 lbs.
Fiberglass front fenders, hood, and bumper.
Full 12 point roll cage.  NHRA certified to 8.49 or slower.
Tubbed with Hoosier 31X18.50X15 Quick Time Pro ET DOT slicks
All glass, carpet, door panels and factory dash.

Engine:  UPDATED FOR NEW ENGINE COMBO 03/28/2016

528 HEMI Mega block with stroker crank
Comp Cams custom grind solid roller -- .676 lift intake and .650 exhaust.
Ray Barton crossram intake
2 -- Holley 750 HP carbs
Indy aluminum cylinder heads with roller rocker assemblies.
572 CI Stroker Eagle forged rotating assembly with 11.50 compression pistons.
Milodon oiling system
Custom headers with 3" full exhaust and TTi tips.

Transmission:

3800 Continental converter

Race prepped 727 with reverse valve body and manual shift. Cheetah shifter.
Aluminum driveshaft

Rear Diff:

Dana 60 with Strange internals. Spool with 4.10 ratio.


That is a quick run down of the ole girl.

It runs mid/high 9's on pump gas. 138-142 mph....   :burnout:

Street driven every weekend. It has been down the track twice in 5 years.

 :roflsmiley: :clapping:. Last I heard your engine was in pieces and you were changing the stroke combo and selling off the extra parts? What the specs on it now? Have you had it out last summer? How does it run?
I REALLY wishing I could have went with an aluminum block for my street build to shave off some more weight.
Post some pictures when you can! I'd love to see what you came up with! :drool: :2thumbs:

What HP would be needed to break into the 9s? I know there are lots of other factors like weight, suspension, gearing, tires etc. Lets say for arguments sake a Cuda with decent suspension 4.88 gears and around 3400lbs with driver?  Any ideas what type hp would get the car into the 9s? Also what type of money would be needed for that motor?

As you said.  Lots of factors. For 3300 lbs (car and driver) and optimum (there's the key and challenge) set-up, driver, etc. I'm figuring 750 HP+ for 10.0 ET.  Probably more. As is usual with such predictions.   :burnout:


Edit ... here's another site .... http://www.ajdesigner.com/fl_horsepower_elapsed_time/horsepower_elapsed_time.php   its telling me I would need 672HP .. find that a bit low ... but tells me somewhere around 700-725 is starting goal.  Can always shoot for that NA and add some NOS to get you over ... :2thumbs:

So I am hoping I can build a 600-700hp NA motor and then use spray to break me into the 9s. I would love to run 9s NA though. It is hard to build a 9 sec street reliable motor on a budget.

Ya.  :smilielol:   It would take, what, 20k at least. Probably closer 30 k.
