Original 70 Challenger Dash Pad Needs a Cleaning.
« on: October 29, 2010 - 09:29:51 PM »
While my car is apart and I am shopping for a good body man, I have decided to restore all the individual components. What I am currently working on is the dash. I lucked out with this car and I have a perfect dash pad. While the pad is in physically good shape it is very dirty from sitting for 20+ years.

So my question is, What should I use to clean it and when it's clean what do I use to protect it? I definitely don't want to make a $1000 mistake here.

Thanks,
Eric

dish soap and water is a start with a soft brissle brush to get into the grain, once clean use dash guard, 303 , or any product that will help with the UV's and soffen,

I've had my '73 since '75 & was using armorall like stuff back then, my OE pad has held up but after sitting for 20+ years the regular cleaners were not getting it.... For some reason I tested a spot with Novus #2 Plastic Polish & all kinds of goo started coming off..I went over it several times but finally the goo was gone & the finish looked great.

Bullit,  do you use the Novus everytime you clean it or just one in a while?
