...that I should paint my Tail Panel, front spoiler, rear spoiler and grill with PPG Organisol or would the spoilers and grill be painted a different color black than the tail panel? My 73 is in the body shop right now and will be getting sprayed soon. I read some older posts and that's what I got out of it. What I'm working with is a 73 Challenger with the 71 R/T hockey stripe(Because that's what I like) and hood blackout in Matte black(Because that's what i like). I have a  rear Go-Wing & front T/A Spoilers. Just making sure that I paint these parts the correct color. your advice would be appreciated.

When you say "correct," I'm assuming that you mean "as if these parts had been offered from the factory on my car."

I'm no expert here, but I don't think that Organisol was used on the tail panels or grills.

No, it was not. I'm just looking for the color that members that have done the same scheme painted these parts.  Organisol will be the color of my tail panel. I'm just wondering if they painted the spoilers and grill the same color.

Ive not yet done this but have imagined similar treatments on my Dark Silver '73.
  1st Hockey Stripe is a 'Cuda thing... I guess you can custom make/paint or did you mean Bee Stripe? Hockey Stripes are tape with a matte finish, Bee Stripe is painted, originally gloss, & is applied prior to body color (Check with your painter, what is used could complicate things)
   Go-Wing I believe was originally Organisol.
  Organisol would be a good choice for the tail & I'd say use it for the grille as well although I don't think that was exactly the original color...( I'm toying with a darker variation on the tail panel Krylon-Graphite Textured   http://www.krylon.com/products/fusion_for_plastic_textured_shimmer/ )

I can't swear to this, but I think the black grills were molded in black and not painted.

Sorry, i meant the 71 R/T stripe.  Not the hockey stripe. My car will have the 71 R/T stripe, the Go Wing Spoiler, The hood blackout and the Front T/A Spoilers. No Bumble Bee stripe. So.. Did i hear you say Organisol for The spoilers and the Grill? I will be using the matte black stripes and hood blackout. Any advice will be appreciated. This is the look that I'm trying to establish.

     Let someone who knows for sure chime in on the "correct" spoiler finish.....
I'm just saying if your using Organisol anyway it would do for the grille...I've seen it on Al's car & it's pretty much just a low gloss black, seemed to have a bit more texture than everyday enamel, & I believe it would come close to the vinyl stripes in appearance.

The go wing and front spoilers would be organisol, the rear tail light panel argent and the front grill panel body colored, if you are going to make it "most factory correct" for a '73.

You could modify this approach and make the back panel organisol, but the grill just wont fly that way. Because it is one piece with the fender trim pieces molded in to it,  the grill is supposed to be body color. You could mask it and spray both colors, but that would be further from correct than the parts your already adding. But that is a perosnal choice. The Challenger in my avatar has a blacked out grill with body colored trim, but it has so many other items that are not original, I prefer it.

You are referring to the header panel that is painted body color. The grill was not body color. The grill is the insert that goes in the header panel. My question is, What color black should the grill be? Should it be Organisol like the spoilers? If the spoilers were painted Organisol, i assume that the grill would be the same color. What do you think? Your help is appreciated.

Wish I could help you out.  The '73 Dodge Challenger brochure just states "black-out painted grill", no mention of the type of paint.

On the Totally Auto website it states, "NEW AND IMPROVED TEXTURED ORGANISOL BLACK For hoods, tail panels, wings, textured dash bezels & more!"

I'm not sure if the grille uses textured paint...

Organisol was used on the spoilers and the tail panel.  The grill was molded in black but SEM Trim Black is almost a dead match to the correct color.  I compared a part sprayed with the SEM paint to a section of my origonal grill that was covered by the bumper filler piece.  That section of the grill had never been exposed to the elements.  The color was basically a dead match.

There was a really nice looking 73 Challenger at the Nat's this past year.  I asked the owner what paint he used for the grill.(it looked too glossy but I didn't tell him that)  He said he used SEM Landau Black.
