I was afraid that I might hear that.

Any others who want to weigh in?

Below is a picture of a parts car the seller will include in the sale for $6,800 total.

parts car looks better then the other. For 6,800 why dont you just buy one done and save a ton of money and head aches?

Moparmatt,
A 71 Cuda is my ultimate dream car, but I'm doubting I'll ever get there. I have a 70 Challenger that's not too shabby ;) It would take some big offer to get it away from me. My point is, don't go for some piece of trash that might be what you think is your ultimate car. If you buy those, it would take years, and tons of $$$ to get one good car out of it. You are NOT getting a bargain from the seller, in my opinion. Just years of hard work. I don't want to discourage you if you are ambitious enough to take this on and work for years on it, but without knowing you personally, I would rather look elsewhere.

From those pics it looks like the car needs pretty much everything replaced which will take lots of time and money.Maybe post some more pics so we can get a better idea how bad the rust is and what parts are there and salvagable.I am also not trying to discourage you as it can be done but it looks like a major project.

This is a matter of what you want. If you like working on cars because you like working on cars, then this looks like a good project. If you want a '71 'cuda because you've always wanted one, then buy one that's done, even if it cost you $25K. You'll have 2xs that into getting this car (or any ground-up '71 resto) going. If you can't, don't, or won't do 99% of the work yourself, stay away from projects and buy one that's done. I personally like doing the work...just don't tell that rat fink neighbor that called code enforcement on me!

Well, according to TFN, the floorpans and framerails are solid. The car has the "typical" rust in front of the rear wheels, as well as "typical" rear window and trunkpan rust. The car is missing its front clip.

The drivetrain is complete, and the interior is rough.

Actually Matt, the parts car looks better than the "fixit" car. The drivers fender looks decent (on the donar), do you have a pic of the pass. fender?  How are the quarters on the donar?

MoparMatt, those pics definitely show that it'll need it's share of work, but if it's what you really want to be working on, go for it!  The price may be more towards the higher side, but maybe you could work out a little better deal to help go towards whatever parts you'll need to complete the car.  Good luck with it man! :dogpile:

Moparmatt,
If you have deep pockets and time, then I don't fault you. I think I would be running the other way though. :P
