Pictures wanted of fiberglass 6-pak hoods on a 72-74 Cuda
« on: November 11, 2010 - 05:50:41 PM »
I have been trying to make up my mid for two years now about the kind of hood/scoop I want.

I have been considering a stock rally hood, an AAR type hood or a 6 pack type hood.....one company (linked below) also has a cool looking "cowl induction" style hood...

I am thinking I just love the look and extra clearance of a 6-pack scoop setup.....plus it can let air in.

Anyone have any suggestions on where to start?  Am I better off getting a stock flat hood and working a 6 pack scoop to fit or just getting one of these:

http://www.usbody.com/__Photo-Product-Views/A-Hood-Specs/F-Hoods/fcuh-04.htm

About $700 for the 'heavy duty" model, and I would also probably get the ram air plate if I did it....

Thoughts?

Can't see the link/picture? It's just a red "X"?
I wouldn't do the graft a glass scoop on a steel hood thing? I'd just get the whole hood in glass. Steel to glass always ends up with cracking over time.
I love the AAR hood too! Good thing is if you keep the hood you have now you could always swap back? Maybe start another post or change this one to say something like.....
Pictures wanted of fiberglass 6-pak and AAR hoods on a 73 Cuda?

That way you can get a good idea of what it looks like , then decide?

Sorry, I see no link to what you are talking about.

I have a fiber glass six-pack hood scoop on a stock steel hood Challenger.

If you love the look....DO IT!     Even if sometime in the future you decide you don't like it, you can change a hood in 10 minutes.

Anyone know if there is a better "brand" to go with for fiberglass hoods? I have heard stories about poor fits, etc....The ones at carhoods.com say they are "heavy duty", with metal frames that make them more rigid and straight.....

Anyone here know anyone with one of theirs/ (carhoods.com)  or maybe recommend a good vendor?

I got mine off e-bay a seller out of Texas. Sorry can't remember the name? :clueless:
I I had it to do over again I would have gotten it molded in black ( mine is white and will show every stone chip) Mine is a repop of a T/A hood.

Thanks Brad

I cant seem to find anyone but carhoods.com , and all they have is grey  (not much darker than white it looks like).

Was looking to see if I could find the same hood but with the cowl vents....the usbody hood doesnt have those.....not sure how that would look...

Sorry, but with all of the other stock options, I am just not a big fan of the 6 Pac Hood on either a Cuda or Challenger.

What is on yours?  Looks like there is a scoop on the one in your sig pic....??

What stock options are you talking about?   Far as I know there is:

-flat hood
-rally (non functional) hood
-AAR hood
-shaker hood

I dont care for the shaker so much because the engine part covers/hides the beauty of the engine IMHO....looks cool with the hood closed. Not to mention the high price for all the required parts
- aar hood -- pricey and too big for my taste
-rally hood...nonfunctional unless you modify and even then the scoops dont channel the air anywhere......plus, frankly, everyone has them.

With the 6pack scoop, the air can be channeled to the air cleaner...plus its 3" above the hood so it should be in the "good air" zone.

The only thing I dont like about the 6pack hood at USBODY is that it doesnt have the cowl vent slots.....
