I think it all come out ok, as you say

especially the first time i drive with my young kids in the back and see the look of wonder in my boys' eyes when the car turns over - that is priceless

thanks for the info on the seats - are the frames the same such that i just get repro'd backs at the time they are recovered? - or do i need to go with a 70 seat as a starter? - if a 70, who wants to trade??

I don't think you did too badly. U-code cudas are more rare than sixpacks, so you have that going for you. Plus, it's a 4-speed, Dana car. That makes it worth 20-50% more than a comparable auto car.

I forget...do you have fender tags or broadcast sheet?

Steve - thanks - I have neither, unfortunately - BUT, the seller says that "Gavin" (? don't know who that is) knows this specific car because it comes from near him and that the seller has been told by gavin before that gavin would be able to provide a replacement fender tag - no idead if that is true....but maybe there is something there

You will need the seat frames for 1970 only.  The person he is speaking of is Galen Govier.  Here is a link to his website.

i think 70/71 is similar as far as seat frames but not 100%.

If you aren't in for 100% correct you could just run them.

The 70 seat has a different style of button to lean the seat for access to the rear of the car. The back shells are also different. I work with Challengers more than Cuda's.  I am pretty sure that the seat foam is different between 70 and 71 Cuda's.

FWIW, I think you did good on this for $16k plus $1k ship and $2k for a new lift.  Now, what's your budget for parts and fill us in on your restoration skills and roughly what work you will need to outsource.  Hopefully you know guys with experience that charge 1/2 (or less) of the going shop rates.

No you should post it in the Resto thread topics. That way when anyone wants to go look at resto's being done, we'll find it easier. Also if you continued doing it on this post you started; eventually one of the mods would end up moving it to the resto section.

Great project car!  Like most have said it is a 440 car which makes it rare. I don't think you paid too much.  If we were in the market for another project car we would have paid the same.  We have had cars in a lot worse shape then this. It looks like you got a lot of original parts with it which makes it worth more. Instead of having to find a lot of the parts you can refurbish the parts you have and save a lot. Good luck on it. Are you going to do the work yourself? Post pictures as you work on it when you get a chance.  Ask Barry if he has any information on your broadcast sheet or fender tag or go to his Website and look up your VIN number. Barry has been a great help for us and everyone here.  Welcome to the Board.
