New Dodge/Chrysler lineup reviewed
« on: November 16, 2010 - 09:04:47 AM »
So over the course of last week and this week the press has been having fun in Sonoma County California testing out the new lineup from Dodge and Chrysler. Motortrend has done a 17 page review (linked below) and so far things are looking up for Dodge and Chrysler. The thing people on here are most interested in is the fact that the 2011 Challenger with its new 392 hemi runs a 12.4 in the quarter mile! A friend of mine was at Sears Point Raceway last Wednesday for the Wednesday Night Drags where one of the innaugural edition 392 Challengers came out to play and indeed ran a 12.44 in the quarter. Way to go Dodge!

Also should be noted how much they loved the interior on the new Charger, major props to one of our members here Dan Zimmerman.

Many of these cars were at SEMA a couple weeks ago and while you couldn't drive them, many of them you could climb in and I know for myself I was impressed by everything they brought to the show. I'm looking forward to driving some of these as well as seeing the vehicles planned for release over the next couple of years.

The Challenger has been the first positive for Chrysler in a long long time.  After reading the write-up on the Charger, we can only hope the Challenger will soon get many of the same updates (especially interior).  I've gone from someone who had basically given up on the modern brand, choosing my old Mopars and other brands for my daily drivers to someone who is seriously considering a Ram pickup in the next 12-18 months and am anxiously waiting to see if the rumors are true and Chrysler does come out with a modern-day Cuda.  If that happens, I'll likely have two new Mopars at my house, big turn around I think.  Way to go Chrysler!

Thanks for the link, good reading.

Very interesting! I can't wait to see the full articles on the new 6.4 Hemi. I'm curious though....when is Mopar gonna put the 6.1 in the Ram pickups? They're falling behind in the Gas power race in pickups.....

Looks like it's a lot better to have Fiat on the team than :swear: Daimler.
Hope to see more Dodges and Chryslers on the road in Norway now that the cars have been much improved, even if it'll be just people movers, SUVs and some pick-ups. I once thought of buying a used Caliber RT, but the Caliber interior made me think of life in a communist country, no style, no percieved quality, no good feelings, just something apparently made entirely of condensated dullness nailed to the inside of the cabin to make do as an interior. Even if I really like the exterior, it's the interior I'll spend time in.

We are listening.
Since you're listening...  :naughty:
I don't expect Dodge to do this, but since Dodge is supposed to be a sporty brand in the Chrysler-Fiat family, how about a compact that's actually competitive against cars like the Ford Focus RS, Scooby Impreza STi, VW Golf R, or at least the Honda Civic Type-R, and Renault Megane RS?
These are wicked compacts from the brands Dodge compete against (I wish I could write S4, M3, and AMG here instead, but that's a long way to go), and they are like halo cars for those models.
The Challenger is a real nice car, and the new Charger seems to be too, but from what I've seen, my impression only, outside USA, these cars are very rare, and any glory from the Chally just won't shine on the lower models, since it's just not there to do it. Only us car people into american iron are really aware of it.
Now that Fiat is on the team, who has a history of making fun little cars...  :smokin:

I just think it's a shame to waste a good name like Dodge Demon, especially when having the concept car in mind, proving that you people had that sort of naughty ideas already before Fiat came in.  ;)
