70 Cuda clone build
« on: November 17, 2010 - 05:51:59 PM »
Over the summer I finally decided what to do with my life, and enrolled in an auto body rod custom and restoration program.  Until last week we have been learning and working on welding and using fillers.  Last week I got the Cuda into the shop and started working on it.  I recently got fenders for it and after 9 years real work has begun.
So far we have built and replaced rear frame rails.  patched trunk supports and wheel wells. we are currently working on the trunk gutters.  It is a wonder what we find every day after a little grinding.

The car is a 72 I plan to clone into a 70 mild custom.
please ask questions an comment I look forward to all comments and criticism and learning all sorts of stuff.

Since my last post I have patched and filled sail panels where a roof was hacked on. Installed trunk floors and quarter extensions as far as i can without the new tail pan. The door s are the next step and they are now removed.

Every Step Forward is 2 steps back.  I got the inner fenders taken out to replace only to find more rust.  we are now in the process of fabricating brackets and repairing the core support.  The firewall is also going to need a bunch of patches.

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

Every Step Forward is 2 steps back.

 :iagree:

That the story with most resorations.  At least you will know that it is repaired correctly, and that you killed all the rust.  :2thumbs:

Well School is out for the summer.  We got a lot more done than I thought we would.  I have my work cut out for me now though, finding the money to buy all the parts I still need.  Most of the body work is done and the car is in primer, there are a few things that need to be redone or looked into further but its in Primer.  Next step in the fall is I want to fix some cracked lead in the a pillar and do some strengthening on the underside. Then I will block it out paint and begin assembly hopefully, It has been a week and a half and I already miss school never thought that would happen.
