I'm nowhere near my electrical diagram but I'm guessing it is for a carb pull-off to prevent run-on or dieseling after the ignition is shut off. PK

Wondered the same, wasn't connected to anything..from what I can tell from the diagram it is a test lead for the brake warning light..when I can find my meter I'll double check & let you know for sure.
